Building a Global IMSE Recycling Ecosystem to Support IMSE Manufacturing

TactoTek, a leading provider of In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE) technology, has announced a significant milestone in its sustainability journey by signing a Recycling Ecosystem Partnership agreement with Kat-Metal OÜ. This collaboration aims to support the adoption of IMSE technology across Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The establishment of the IMSE Recycling Ecosystem emphasizes TactoTek's commitment to environmentally friendly electronics and efficient waste management. This initiative brings together recycling experts and IMSE manufacturers, paving the way for the responsible disposal and recycling of manufacturing waste and end-of-life IMSE parts.

Collaborative Platform: IMSE Recycling Ecosystem Connects Recycling Professionals and IMSE Manufacturing Licensees

As part of TactoTek's ongoing efforts to tackle the challenges of electronic waste, the company is actively working with recycling partners and research facilities worldwide to enhance material recovery and circularity in IMSE recycling. By building an IMSE Recycling Ecosystem, TactoTek aims to provide comprehensive support to its IMSE manufacturing licensees throughout the entire value chain.

Key to the IMSE Recycling Ecosystem is the collaboration between recycling professionals and IMSE manufacturing licensees. By joining the Ecosystem, recycling companies are introduced to IMSE manufacturing licensees. The relationship between the parties is independent and non-exclusive, each party being in full control of their business. TactoTek ensures the credibility of its recycling partners by providing them with an IMSE-related sample set and verifying their recycling capabilities.

Signed Agreements Pave the Way for a Global IMSE Recycling Ecosystem

The signing of the first Recycling Ecosystem Partnership agreements represents a significant step forward in the establishment of a global IMSE Recycling Ecosystem. Sampo Pirilä, Manager, Product Planning & Sustainability at TactoTek, expressed his satisfaction with this achievement: “Efficient recycling of our technology is at the core of our sustainability strategy. Kat-Metal has been supporting us a lot during the recent years and we are very happy to have signed the Recycling Ecosystem Partnership Agreement with them.”

"By understanding the chemistry and behavior of the materials inside IMSE products, we can correspond to the future demands of IMSE technology. We have cooperated closely with TactoTek during the past years for better and greener solutions in the field of sustainable recycling. We together carry a huge responsibility for the future," said Sami Äijänen, Project Management, Kat Metal OU Estonia.
