Essemtec pick-and-place and dispensing equipment accelerates IMSE processing

OULU, FINLAND (date) – Today TactoTek™, the leading developer of injection molded structural electronics (IMSE™) solutions, announced that it is now using an Essemtec multi-functional pick-and-place system, The Paraquda, for IMSE production.

The Paraquda combines three different production steps within one machine platform:  solder paste jetting and/or glue jetting and SMD assembly.

In TactoTek’s IMSE manufacturing process, SMD is done in 2 dimensions, prior to a part being thermoformed into its 3D shape and injection molded,” noted Marko Suo-Anttila, SVP Engineering at TactoTek, “while TactoTek’s manufacturing process does not require specialized SMD equipment, with Essemtec we’ve measurably improved consistency and reduced production cycle times.

TactoTek has dedicated teams that validate materials, components, equipment and processes for designing and producing IMSE solutions. In addition, the Company collaborates with innovators in the IMSE ecosystem who share the commitment of advancing the IMSE state-of-the-art and commercializing IMSE solutions.

With their IMSE solutions, TactoTek is leading new uses of our equipment, and we are very pleased that we have been able to improve their SMD results” said Essemtec’s Jurg Schupbach, Director of Sales & Marketing. “Demand for IMSE solutions is increasing quickly across several markets and is driving demand for advanced SMD equipment. The SMD equipment used by TactoTek is available to all of our customers and highly recommended.
