Routledge is proud to announce the publication of the second editions of the Special Event Production duo: The Process and The Resources.
Doug Matthews, freelance writer and industry expert, has adapted the in-depth and easy-to-read set of guides to meet the technological and venue development demands within event management.

With these new editions, readers will benefit from enhanced features such as new chapters, new and updated case studies and online resources.  Entirely new to these second editions is the “Industry Voices” feature which includes reflective accounts from industry experts around the world about their event planning and production experiences.

The Process provides the reader with a step-by-step guide to managing the planning and business elements of events production by walking through budgeting and resource concerns, planning and cost projections and the art of honing a well-crafted proposal.

The Resources is a one-stop reference guide to the technical details of a large scale event with extensive grounding on the performance of the different visual technologies, special effects, lighting and audio systems.

Both extensive in information and simple in format, the Special Event Production guides are essential for all within event management, including planners, managers, tutors and students.

Reviews for Special Event Production

"This is a great textbook for a student going into event and entertainment production. The book gives the big picture to ensure that all aspects are part of planning. I would recommend it for any student planning a career in event or venue management so they can understand all the components of the event, whether they produce the technical aspects or not"
- Denise DiRienzo, Communication Studies Professor, State University of New York at Oswego

"An excellent resource for special event production, covering fields rarely touched by other event management books. The book is very structured, easy-to-follow, comprehensive, and full of professionals’ experiences. Especially, the Voices of the Industry are insightful and Production War Stories are gripping. It is a must-to-have reference for special event management professionals and students."
- Cathy Xin Jin, Lecturer, Department of Tourism, Sports and Hotel Management, Griffith Business School
