The increased fascination with myth, reality, and religion, alongside the popularity of multi-media dissemination of fantasy fiction, presents multifarious opportunities for increased religious engagement.
Music has great potential for providing emotionally and relationally reparative experiences, particularly, but not exclusively, to previously disadvantaged learners. Facilitating neural change takes discipline, while intersubjective models of human behavior, such as those proposed by neuropsychoanalyst Dr. Allan Schore, have shown clearly that human actions and development do not occur in isolation. It is time that this discipline becomes a shared societal responsibility.
In dance music, discrimination on the basis of gender is widespread, ranging from harsh judgements of DJs’ technical competencies, to harassment and sexual assault. What is more, it is not restricted only to commercial, ‘mainstream’ music events - it also occurs at ‘alternative’ parties that advocate social consciousness and aim for gender equality.
Although the unique, individual scenes and spaces of interest to many dance music scholars might foster a type of alternative politics of participation, they cannot lead us to assume that dance music culture at large has been able to break free from the pervasive gender dynamics immanent in everyday life
We hope our paper encourages more researchers to use television and other media as data in looking critically at processes of design
Music-related motion, both sound producing and sound accompanying, leaves a trace in our minds and could be thought of as a kind of shape representation, one intimately linked to our experience of the salient features of musical sound. The basic notion here is that images of sound-producing and other sound-related motion are actively re-created in listening and in musical imagery, hence the idea that motor theory could be the basis for the similarities between sound and body movement when we experience music.
I hope this study has contributed relevant insights to the discussion of linguistic aspects of translation, more specifically subtitles, opening up room for studies that may enrich the field of theory and practice of (AudioVisual) Translation Studies

“There is often skepticism about the importance of international law, and many critics claim that the Kyoto Protocol failed. The fact that countries have fully complied is highly significant, and it helps to raise expectations for full adherence to the Paris Agreement.”
My title was inspired by Beyoncé's song, Who Run the World, and this research is an extension to the theme of modern feminism. The article explores how women can use digital technologies to empower themselves.

“Geographers are well positioned to step up to this challenge and actively engage in debates where love need not be framed by monogamy, family is not framed by biology, and citizenship is not framed by marriage, but by friendship.”

I'm honored to share their work and the lessons they've learned in Post-Petroleum Design, the first book that brings them all together. I'm excited to see how it will help a new generation of designers shape an even brighter future beyond oil.

“We had almost the entire skull, which was wonderful,” Gates says, “but the preparation was very difficult. It took two years to dig the fossil out of the sandstone it was embedded in – it was like digging a dinosaur skull out of a concrete driveway.”
“We’ve found other hadrosaurs from the same time period but located about 200 miles farther south that are adapted to a different environment,” Gates says. “This discovery gives us a geographic snapshot of the Cretaceous, and helps us place contemporary species in their correct time and place. Rhinorex also helps us further fill in the hadrosaur family tree.”

‘Smart, provocative, and unconventional at every turn. Profoundly new thinking, including policies, will be needed … Grubb’s big contribution is to stitch them together and chart a path for change.’
‘The book is compulsory reading for policymakers and academics for understanding the broader challenges of environmental change. What makes the book such an outstanding contribution is the way it brings together the fields of energy, environment, innovation, behavioural economics and macroeconomics. Its key policy message is a timely call for policymakers to act decisively, so that our societies can have the confidence to invest and innovate in solving the great environmental challenges of our time.'

‘A seminal book that challenges conventional wisdom about growth, innovation and climate policy. After reading it you understand why the tools that mainstream economics has provided policymakers have been unequal to the task. In filling out the picture, Planetary Economics contains a crucial practical message: the fact that energy is at the core of the economic machine is both the challenge and the opportunity, and three pillars of policy together are needed to steer it in safer directions.'
'The defining features of climate change -- long-time horizons, global reach, and uncertain but possibly catastrophic impacts – have stymied policymakers and strained many of the standard tools of economics. 'Michael Grubb has been a pioneer and innovative thinker in the field of climate change This book is a rich compilation of research based insights and analysis which would be a valuable resource for academics, government officials and the public at large in understanding the current status of and future prospects for action in the field of climate change.'
Dan Brockington has written a very welcome book on the promise and limits of celebrity advocacy. Methodologically rigorous, scrupulously reflexive and consistently hard-headed in an area where sentimentality and wishful thinking is all too tempting, this book sets new standards for analysis and argument for this debate.
Dan Brockington demonstrates how corporations, politicians and the NGO community have oriented themselves under the aura of celebrity. The bling in this work is original empirical research on how celebrities and NGOs are working in advocating for attention and funding for international development issues in post-democratic politics.
These days we hardly blink when we hear that another film or rock star takes up a new humanitarian cause. But Dan Brockington makes us stop and stare, to see celebrity advocacy as more than just another feature of show-business. This book provides a clear-eyed and penetrating look at how celebrities become involved in development issues, and the effect that they have. The detail of the analysis and the sharpness of the argument make Celebrity Advocacy and International Development a superb work.
Dan Brockington has written an important book, exploring the convoluted world of celebrity advocacy. He carefully analyses the evidence and exposes the phenomenon; and just when you think Brockington has delivered his measured conclusions, there comes a powerful 'afterword' which no-one should miss and which suddenly transforms the whole topic.
Sharp, clear and fully engaging, this is one of the most comprehensive and insightful accounts of celebrity advocacy that have been written so far. It will no doubt define the field for many years to come.
Dan Brockington emerges from several years of intelligent, evidenced-based interrogation of the role of celebrities in international development with a genuinely insightful and surprising argument. This book will profoundly change the way we think about celebrities and development.
Dan Brockington’s excellent book explores the contradictory effects of celebrity populism on international development. He utilizes post-democratic theory to conceptualize the ‘authenticity’ of the affiliations between celebrity activists, non-governmental organizations and public opinion. This is a major resource for anyone who is concerned with the democratic implications of celebrity advocacy.
This book is not some esoteric or arcane legal backwater, but the frontline or interface of our social relationships. It charts and pin points with alarming accuracy the shape of current dilemmas
Problems and disputes regarding maritime letters of indemnity are frequently encountered in practice, and have increasingly come before Courts and Arbitral Tribunals...Although some P&I Clubs have given useful practical guidance to their members...This work is an attempt to fill the gap.

With international scholarship and case studies from every continent, this Companion is destined to be an essential reference for anyone interested in urban regeneration. Accessible essays cover every aspect of the problems cities face worldwide and report on the solutions that have been tried using the latest research.
The Companion is extraordinary in the scope of the cases covered. Focusing on Europe and Asia, it points to the similarities and differences among a vast number of projects in developing and developed countries. It shows the effects of neoliberalism on regeneration programs but also the ways in which resistance to megaprojects has been effective.
Leary and McCarthy’s impressive collection of papers is a timely reminder that urban regeneration is not confined to the glamour cities of North America or the command and control centers of the EU. Urban regeneration is global, complex, multi-faceted and not always right.
Brilliant–a real roadmap to the future. And a perfect reminder of why we must leave most fossil fuel safely in the ground.
