Odin Teatret Turns 50 – Performs in London for the First Time

Odin Teatret celebrate their fiftieth year as a theatre company by performing for the first time in London. Their show The Chronic Life will be performed at Sadler’s Wells from the 22nd-27th April, and include a pre-show conversation with founder and artistic director Eugenio Barba, alongside a four-day residency at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

In their 50-year history Odin Teatret have created over 76 performances and performed in 63 countries. More than just a theatre company, the Odin is also the base for the International School of Theatre Anthropology, founded by Barba in 1979. They have also published a range of books on theatre anthropology, pedagogy and Odin Teatret’s performances. Their latest series, published in English in conjunction with Routledge, is the Routledge/ICARUS Theatre as a Laboratory Series, which under the editorial direction of Eugenio Barba, Frank Camilleri and Dariusz Kosinski, this co-publication project encompasses some of Europe’s finest contemporary theatre research.
