Taylor & Francis celebrates the tenth anniversary of its office opening in Australia
March 2015 marks the tenth anniversary of the opening of Taylor & Francis Group’s Australian office, with the last decade seeing the company’s Australasian publishing program more than treble in size.
The partnerships Taylor & Francis has established with academic societies and institutions in the region has resulted in the Group becoming the largest publisher of peer-reviewed academic journals in Australasia (growing from 30 titles edited from Australia and New Zealand in 2005, to 90 titles in 2015). With the mantra of “local partnerships and global networks”, the company’s Melbourne-based team has worked with its Australasian publishing partners to ensure their journals meet the needs and interests of the local research community, whilst also maximising each journal’s international exposure.
Taylor & Francis Group’s Journals' Regional Director for Australasia, Sarah Blatchford (who is also a Director on the Board of CHASS/the Council for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and Convenor of the Scholarly & Journals Committee of the Australian Publishers Association), commented,
“Combined with the extensive efforts of our editors and society partners, this successful approach has enabled us to build our publishing program as a whole, and, most importantly, to build on the individual journals we publish, with growth in quality submissions and content, as well as many new inclusions in the Thomson Reuters' Citation Indexes along the way. Reviews of individual journal performance, including metrics indicators and usage, show a story of continuous growth.”
Taylor & Francis is continuing this international growth, expanding its global publishing program to include clinical medicine titles from 2015, with the recently announced transfer of Informa Healthcare journals. The company looks forward to extending its local partnerships in this area, increasing its support and investment in the Australasian academic community across all disciplines.
To celebrate 10 years in Melbourne, Taylor & Francis has gathered together a selection of the most read articles from their Australasian edited journals, showcasing the diversity and impact of the research published in these journals during the last decade.
