Oxford-based Taylor & Francis Group continues to be the publisher of choice for learned societies worldwide.

Forty-eight societies and editorial boards chose to publish their scholarly journals with the company in 2013, contributing to this year’s record addition of over 100 titles to their list.

The new journals are being published under both the Routledge and Taylor & Francis imprints. They reflect the company’s core strengths in Geography, Planning, Communication, Education and Politics, as well as other areas of expertise: Architecture, Advertising, Mathematics, Biology, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering, Nutrition, Management and Zoology.

Taylor & Francis has also maintained its strong reputation for supporting societies as they launch pioneering titles in growing areas of research. Fully half of 2013’s launches will be the result of new or existing society partnerships. The company was chosen by the Johns Hopkins University (Materials Research Letters), the University of Southern California (Military Behavioural Health), the Western Political Science Association (Politics, Groups and Identities) and the International Association for Chronic Fatigue (Fatigue), among others, to nurture and promote their new launches.

Overall, the 2013 new-start programme reflects Taylor & Francis’ market-leading position in Politics, Geography & Area Studies, IT, Engineering & Applied Sciences, Physical Sciences & Mathematics, Environment & Agriculture and Behavioural Sciences.

The company’s regional publishing programme also continues to grow rapidly, with eight new titles due to be published by the Singapore office alone this year. In India, two STM (science, technology and medicine) co-publishing deals were signed with local publishers Har Krishnan Bhalla and Taru Publications. Taylor & Francis also signed a major publishing contract with the Australian Library and Information Association to publish their two titles, Australian Library Journal and Australian Academic and Research Libraries.

Continuing the company’s programme of selective acquisitions in key areas of expertise, several of Taylor & Francis’ 100 new journals were purchases, including five highly ranked geography journals previously published by Bellwether.

Global Publishing Director Dr David Green said, “We’re delighted to be working with all our new society partners in 2013, and are particularly excited to be able to support so many of them in opening up new areas of research. We are known for our investment in innovative new publications, and support for editorial boards who wish to publish material at the cutting-edge of their disciplines. We’ve also invested heavily in our society-publishing programme in recent years, including in our new, industry-leading online platform, Taylor & Francis Online. We are among the first of the major publishers to bring transparent article metrics reporting to our platform. Our global reach is second to none, and ensures that all societies publishing with us will have worldwide exposure, marketing and support for their research.”
