Toscana Resort Castelfalfi. The new year: achievements and new projects

March 16: winter break at La Tabaccaia has finished and at Castelfalfi, it’s time to take stock of the results achieved and to define the next steps in the ambitious project undertaken by the German tour operator TUI AG in 2007. Among our achievements, the Borgo plays a primary role: back to its former splendor thanks to a careful renovation, according to the traditional Tuscan architecture, the village today boasts 41 completely renovated apartments and 38 of them have already been delivered to their new owners. In addition to the residential units, 11 shops have been opened to enliven the main street and offer products and excellences of our territory.

Our real estate projects also include the renovation of other 7 apartments to be completed in spring 2015 with the new Tennis Court.

At the end of 2013, we also completed the careful renovation of two of our Casali, I Bianchi and La Valle, wonderful traditional Tuscan country villas. The two Casali, which are at present available also for luxury rentals, are on sale for those who wants to purchase a house with immediate entry.

The Casale I Bianchi, located near the Lake Course Hole 3 of the Golf Club Castelfalfi, has a spacious living room on the ground floor with vaulted ceilings, a large equipped kitchen and a bedroom with en suite bathroom. On the first floor there are four spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The patient work of our artisans has brought back into use an old wood burning oven in an annex next to the country villa, while a small gym has been created near the swimming pool.

The Casale La Valle, also surrounded by the Golf Course, is an ancient building that has been renovated and divided into 4 independent apartments, which range from 100 to 130sqm. The two apartments on the first floor have been endowed with a covered Loggia with breathtaking views of the hills and the Castle, while the two on the ground floor have a private garden. Here guests can relax by the shared swimming pool and benefit of the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

Another jewel of our estate is the Casale Falecine, a country villa whose renovation was completed in the summer 2014. Not far from the village, the old building overlooks the opposite side of the Golf. The structure consists of a large kitchen on the ground floor with a large fireplace and, upstairs, a spacious living room enriched by another beautiful, ancient fireplace and five bedrooms. A more rustic and rural ambience makes Falecine the ideal solution for hunters, cyclists, hikers, and everyone who wishes Castelfalfi to be the base for his/her outdoor activities.

Having completed its renovation, the Castle, heart of the Castelfalfi’s Borgo since the early Middle Ages, was inaugurated in June 2014 with a wonderful musical show. On the Castle’s ground floor, which boasts a panoramic terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside and the golf course, an international restaurant offers a sophisticated cuisine based on the high quality of its local ingredients. Also, this floor hosts a wine bar and some multi-purpose spaces for private events, meetings and banquets. Michele Rinaldi is the chef that leads the restaurant La Rocca di Castelfalfi: a young chef from Bergamo who achieved his first Michelin star at the age of 27. After having worked in some of the most renowned Italian and international restaurants, Chef Rinaldi delights his guests, by offering a classic cuisine combined with sophisticated techniques, without forgetting tradition and simplicity, and a particular attention to detail. The Castle is animated also by the new Rosso Toscano Cooking School, that offers a variety of cookery courses, from the classic ones, dedicated to home-made pasta and traditional menus, to the more creative bakery or finger food courses. One of the main features of Castelfalfi’s Castle is its “training” vocation: many young professionals will get the chance to work in an international, high-grade environment. To fulfill this educational purpose, part of the Castle employees come from the best European culinary and hospitality schools.

Our new projects

Last but not least, our real estate projects: first of all, the renovation works for the Casale Casiscala, closes to the Borgo. The country villa, one of the smallest of the estate (about 400 sqm), is a little jewel located in a strategical position: immersed in the game reserve, it’s very near to the Medieval Borgo; from its swimming pool, our guests can enjoy an amazing view over the Castle and the Valley. Casiscala, which will boast four double bedrooms, plus a kitchen and a bright and spacious living room, will be completed in summer 2015. Rennovation of Casale Falecine’s Barn: summer 2015

In summer 2014, we also started working on the project of the new Borgo La Collina, which is the result of a careful environmental requalification. On the gentle slope of the hill, surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside, the new village will host 29 new houses, perfectly integrated within the environmental context. In the same complex, we are renovating an ancient farmhouse to obtain other 5 residential units in the magnificent  scenery of the Golf Course, dominated by the Castle and with a splendid view over Volterra and the Tuscan countryside.

The project of a Wellness & Spa 5 Star Hotel, which will offer its guests an exclusive place for comfort and relaxation, immersed in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, is now being defined. Heliport in 2016.

Quotes

Why does a big international group like Tui decide to bet on this ambitious project by investing remarkable resources, with a completely unconventional approach? First, I would say that the main reason is the unique charm of Castelfalfi, with its ancient roots and its unmistakable Tuscan atmosphere. Being said that, the challenge here is to give this land its true identity back, by providing the modern comforts our visitors need without compromising the balance of nature and history of this place. And so far, we are winning this challenge.
