The Olkiluoto 3 EPR (OL3) project was concluded a good two years ago and the commercial operation of the plant unit started on 1 May 2023. Today, Teollisuuden Voima Oyj accepted the Final Takeover (FTO) of the plant unit.

- OL3 has operated reliably during the first two years. The annual outage this spring, the second one at the unit, was also completed successfully. The Final Takeover of OL3 was based on the fulfilment of the terms and conditions laid down in the Plant Supply Contract, but the many benefits we promised OL3 would bring to the society have been realised already since 2023, says Marjo Mustonen, Senior Vice President for Electricity Production.

OL3 made Finland almost self-sufficient in electricity. Furthermore, it contributes to the stability of electricity price, and as Finland's greatest climate act, also accelerates the clean transition towards a carbon-neutral society.

The OL3 Plant Supplier Consortium built the plant unit on a fixed-price, turnkey contract. The Plant Supplier Consortium consists of AREVA GmbH, AREVA NP SAS, and Siemens AG.

Teollisuuden Voima Oyj has produced electricity for its shareholders, Finnish industrial and energy companies, safely and reliably for over 40 years. The island of Olkiluoto produces about 30 percent of Finland's electricity needs. Climate-friendly nuclear electricity not only benefits society but also reduces the environmental impact of energy production. Moreover, the world's first final disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel is under construction in Olkiluoto.
