An end to fuel poverty in Greater Manchester

Report this content

Approximately 930,000 families including 1.6million children are forced to deal with fuel poverty across local communities in the UK. Fuel poverty has severe effects on society such as health problems keeping people out of education, social isolation and mental illness. Home Survey Reports Ltd (HSR), located in Bury is offering a free support service available for people in Greater Manchester who are struggling to pay their utility bills.

The government is offering grants and funding to help tackle fuel poverty under various initiatives such as the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation schemes (ECO). HSR is fully committed to providing no-obligation support to people that are unsure about how to claim these grants, from finding out exactly what energy efficient improvements are available to the property and fitting these technologies, helping to make local homes more energy and cost efficient.

HSR has already helped people improve their living conditions. Julie Smith, Salford resident commented “HSR have been a great support, they found out I was entitled to loft and wall insulation, and they completed the job quick and tidied up after themselves. My home is now a lot warmer and more comfortable”.

Simply by answering a few quick questions via the HSR free online survey, householders including tenants can see if they are eligible for energy saving measures such as a new boiler or insulation. Gary Cleary, Managing Director of HSR said “we are eager to help as many people as possible benefit from these measures and are encouraging people to get in touch to find out about how to make energy savings to their home”.

The free online survey only takes a few minutes to fill in and will instantly email the user a simple to understand two page report explaining what the user can qualify for through the Green Deal and ECO scheme. This free survey has the option of a call back service for if the user has any queries.

HSR is working across Greater Manchester Authorities, and support initiatives of Greater Manchester Energy Advice Service in order to help bring homes within the ten local authorities in Greater Manchester energy efficient and out of fuel poverty. (Manchester, Salford, Trafford, Oldham, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Wigan, Tameside).
