Pharmaceutical companies joining forces with RARE disease advocates on national morning show can save lives.
Pompano Beach, (July 11, 2012) “Roulette Wheel of Rare and Genetic Diseases” is a 6 part miniseries, presented by premier morning show ‘The Balancing Act’ that will be airing October 2012 through Spring 2013. The producers of this special series are searching for Pharmaceutical partners who can help educate patients and families on treatment research and clinical trials from their companies.
- The special series has joined with R.A.R.E. (Rare Disease, Advocacy, Research, Education), Global Genes Project, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity committed to serving the over 350 million people around the world suffering from over 7,000 RARE diseases, 95% of which currently have no therapy or treatment. A RARE disease is classified as one affecting less than 200,000 citizens.* (United States, definition varies by country)
- R.A.R.E. Project and Global Gene Project exists to raise disease awareness, unify, equip and empower a vibrant global rare disease community and fund innovations to support ‘in-their-lifetime’ rare disease research.
- The series “Roulette Wheel of Rare and Genetic Disease” along with their partner R.A.R.E. project intends to become a vital platform for parents and families of people affected with a Rare disease to connect, become educated and informed on clinical trials, new drug therapy research and government policies affecting the Rare disease world.
- The recent FDA Safety and Innovation Act that passed in the senate will enable expedite review of treatments for patients who have certain serious or life- threatening diseases. Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., hopes this bill will bring renewed hope to patients and families suffering from rare diseases.
- One of the most important aspects of people living with RARE disease is the possibility of cutting edge drug therapies and clinical trials; therefore the producers of the series in partnership with R.A.R.E. and Global Gene Project are seeking to connect the patients with the companies who are working to find treatments and cures.
- Pharmaceutical companies working on R & D for drugs and therapies that can help people affected with Rare and Genetic diseases have the unique opportunity for national exposure through the series as well as to connecting with the very active patient/family Rare disease community.
