Bluebird Care, North Essex’s most proactive provider of specialist in-home care, is launching its new community based Wellbeing Service at Foundry Court in Manningtree, with open days on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th January. The service will offer a variety of therapies and activities to meet the care needs of older people and people with a disability.

This new service provides a more comprehensive approach to care. It focuses on customers’ all-round health by addressing their mental, physical and social needs through the integration of in-home care, community based activities and a bit of good, old fashioned pampering.

The service which is led by fully qualified Occupational Therapists will offer: re-ablement services – helping customers to re-learn skills they may have lost through injury or illness; activities such as arts & crafts; indoor games; reminiscence work and cognitive stimulation; guest speakers; IT sessions; social outings; gardening club; shopping service; information and advice; hairdressing; podiatry; massages and reflexology and carer support groups - all designed to create a full and effective care programme focused on independence, health, wellbeing and satisfaction for customers and their families.

The site for this Service is Foundry Court in Manningtree - a well-known and well used community centre with good transport links.

Melvyn Plum, Managing Director of Bluebird Care Colchester & Tendring, said: “We get to know our customers really well through the care we provide in their homes and it’s become apparent that some customers would benefit from care that goes beyond personal care elements and encompasses social activities, massage and gardening - activities that nurture the mind, body and soul. Combined with personal care, these supplementary therapies and activities can provide a really positive outcome. We’ve been working on this idea for a while and we’re really excited to be launching the Wellbeing Service in January. We hope people will come along to the open days on 24th & 25th January to meet our lovely team and get a feel for the many ways we can help!”
