Family fun this Autumn at The Great British Farm Fair
The Great Bealings Great British Farm Fair is a family fun day from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 22nd September at Rosery Farm, Great Bealings, Suffolk. This fantastic Fair blends traditional demonstrations with popular contemporary games and activities to create possibly the most fun-packed family day of the Autumn.
There really is something for everyone including live music from Silbury Hill, Pete & Janine, JCB, Folk on the Hill & MC2. There will also be a barbeque as well as craft displays, birds of prey, wool spinning and tractor rides. For the more active visitors there is a mud run, bike trail, old-fashioned Olympics, golf and a dog show - and for youngsters and families there is a Dinosaur Dig, Laser Tag (a safer alternative to Paint Ball), a bouncy castle, apple bobbing, pony riding and more. Visit the website http://greatbealingsfair.co.uk/ to see the full list of activities and get directions to the fair.
Entry is free if you’re on foot or just £1 per car. Children’s wristbands are £5 and entitle them to a hearty meal from the barbeque and free entry to all children’s activities. The event is organised by the Friends of Great Bealings Church (http://greatbealings.org.uk) All proceeds go to preserve and maintain the magnificent historical Church Buildings of St Mary’s, Great Bealings.
Adrian Melrose, Local entrepreneur and Co-founder of the event, said; “We’ve tried to create an event based around activities that families can enjoy together. We’re hoping that the fair will be established as an annual event helping us to fund the ongoing preservation of the fabric of St Mary’s Church. We were fortunate enough to purchase Rosery Farm from the Late Lord Belstead who was always a generous benefactor to the local community and Church and we want to continue in his footsteps by opening the 125 acre farm to the public.
He continued; “This Great British Farm Fair is based around family fun. In return for a very small fee, we hope to provide fresh air, fun, loads to see and do, music, activities and a carnival atmosphere. Of course we’re also giving a nod to the traditions of the British countryside in a year where national pride has soared. We hope the people of Suffolk will help us to make this fair something else we can be proud of.”
