New Bluebird Care Club attracts big crowds

Bluebird Care, North Essex’s most proactive provider of specialist in-home care, threw open the doors of its brand new community based wellbeing service, The Bluebird Care Club, at Foundry Court in Manningtree. Bernard Jenkin MP cut the ribbon to declare the facility open to applause from the many visitors.

Staff took groups on a tour of the facilities, which include a hair salon, massage rooms, a gardening area, a games room and a reminiscence suite. Many activities were demonstrated throughout the day including; therapeutic gardening, pottery, music, reminiscence, podiatry, beauty therapy, massage and arts and crafts. Plus, representatives were on hand to provide advice and information from Colne housing association, Ableworld Mobility, GB Adaptions, Bluebird Care, Dacon Trust, Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, and Essex Carers Support.

Bernard Jenkin MP said in his speech: “I don’t know if any of you here remember that Foundry Court has had a chequered career and at one time it was in danger of closing, I think it is fantastic that Bluebird Care have created this wellbeing service for the local people of Manningtree, the creation of the Bluebird Care Club has given Foundry Court a new lease of life. This is the first of its type in the country and we are proud to have the prototype here in Manningtree and when it proves successful Bluebird Care are hoping to roll it out to the rest of the country”

The Bluebird Care Club, which is led by fully qualified Occupational Therapists is designed to create a full and effective care programme focused on independence, health, wellbeing and satisfaction for customers and their families.

Foundry Court is a popular community centre, located in the heart of Manningtree, Essex and is home to a number of local community groups.  The centre is owned and managed by Colne, a community Housing Association located in Colchester.
