Woodbridge Youth Rugby Development Festival 2012
Woodbridge School sponsors Club’s 4th annual Youth Development Festival on Sunday 14 October 2012
Firmly established on the annual rugby diary after the success of the last three year’s Festivals Woodbridge Rugby Club, home of the Warriors and Amazons senior men’s and women’s teams, will host its fourth Development Festival at the Club’s grounds on Sunday 14 October from 10.30am to 3pm. Squads from U7 to U12 are involved from all over the region.
Generously sponsored by Woodbridge School - youth development squads are expected from Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford, Colchester, Diss, Felixstowe, Hadleigh, Ipswich, Ipswich YM, Lowestoft, Southwold, Stowmarket, Sudbury, and Woodbridge to compete for Cup, plate and shield. Like previous years the 1,200 players and supporters can expect a full programme of matches, prizes, a raffle, BBQ and trade stands.
Woodbridge Rugby Club has an extensive Youth section with a growing membership of some 330 boys and girls – a record in the area. Its successful appeal to youngsters comes not only from the growing appeal of the game but also from its full schedule of fixtures and other events organised by a tireless group of parents and RFU qualified and CRB checked coaches.
Karen Debenham, Festival organiser, says “Our development Festival is an opportunity for newer and less experienced players to enjoy a friendly tournament situation. It also allows smaller clubs with only limited player numbers to compete more evenly with larger clubs who select development squads from their larger pool of players. We aim to have as many children involved and having fun as possible, teams are encouraged to help each other out if they are short of players. The dedication of the WRUFC coaches, parents and club officials always aims to ensure that everyone has a great day out”.
All spectators are welcome for what should be a fun and competitive Festival.
