Small D.C. Business Accomplishes Big Things to Get Veterans Employed

HERNDON, Va., January 14, 2013 - Global human capital services firm The Buller Group announced today results of its initiative to increase employment among Veterans. In August of 2012, The Buller Group launched the Certified Veteran Recruiter Program (CVR) with the sole purpose of preparing private sector recruiting professionals with the skills needed to successfully source and hire Veterans. Since then the CVR Program has gained national attention from industry, government, the DoD and even the U.S. Senate, and is being heralded as a long-awaited solution to Veteran unemployment.

A recent Washington Times article, “Vets’ Tough New Mission: Find A Job,” highlighted the importance of a recruiter’s ability to recognize and value military talent.

“There are three parts in the equation to Veteran unemployment,” said Emily King, Vice President of The Buller Group Military Transitions division and author of the book “Field Tested” (AMACOM 2012). “First, the current economic picture, second, the preparation of service members to compete for civilian jobs, and third, the preparation of private sector organizations and their recruiters to compete for Veteran talent. The economy is slowly improving. The government has efforts underway to improve its military transition assistance, slowly. The quickest way to move the needle on Veteran employment is to train recruiters to hire Veterans. That’s what the CVR is designed to do.”

The CVR Program has gained traction among organizations that want to see results and return on investment from Veteran hiring initiatives. They are demonstrating their commitment by investing in the CVR training and certification of their internal recruiters. A sampling of these companies include Comcast, Northrop Grumman, TASC, Discovery Communications, Verizon, and many more. The Buller Group took this one step further and certified it’s entire team of recruiters.

Participants of the 2012 CVR Program reported measurable increases in skill and awareness as a result of the course, particularly in sourcing, resume translation, screening, interviewing, and Wounded Warrior job candidates. In the words of one participant –  "The CVR Program is an absolute game changer. A force multiplier for any Veteran recruiting program."

The CVR Program is now taking registrants for the February 12-13 session. To learn more about the Program and to register, click here. In addition to the CVR Program, The Buller Group offers the Federal Recruiter Certification (FRC) and the Intel Recruiter Certification (IRC).
