Pitch up with Camping and Caravanning Club President and television presenter, Julia Bradbury, to celebrate National Camping and Caravanning Week 2014 (Monday, 26 May to Sunday, 1 June).

This year, the Club is celebrating its heritage and has organised a special nostalgia event at its Scarborough campsite on Friday, 30 May.

Holidaymakers staying on-site will be able to enjoy a range of traditional activities including old-style fairground games, Punch and Judy shows plus much more!

First female Club President and television presenter, Julia Bradbury, will be in attendance at the event and available for interview.

There’re also additional events being planned at the Club’s other 109 Club Sites and 16 Camping in the Forest Sites, which are all located in idyllic areas across the UK. More information on these events can be found one the Club’s dedicated website: www.nccw.co.uk

And there’s further activity planned to celebrate the industry’s premier week. As cycle-camping is such a large part of the Club's history, and with the Tour de France departing from the UK this year, the Club is taking on a challenge and raising money for Sustrans.

A team of Camping and Caravanning Club cyclists will ride over 420 miles in six days, in the spirit of founding member and cycle-camper Thomas Hiram-Holding. To make it even tougher, the team will all be riding in traditional tweed cycling outfits!

The cyclists will pedal over the finish line at the Club’s hub-event at Scarborough. More information can be found here: www.clubchallenge2014.co.uk

Robert Louden MBE, Director General at the Club, said: “The ‘Year of the Bike’ really resonated with the Club due to its ties with our founding member, Thomas Hiram-Holding. National Camping and Caravanning Week, which is into its 14thyear, is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our heritage – and the nation’s love for camping, caravanning and the great outdoors!

“I’m looking forward to attending our NCCW event at Scarborough – it’s going to be a fantastic day for all involved.”

National Camping and Caravanning Week partners include: Outwell, Vango, Swift, Elddis and Halfords.

And there’ll be plenty of opportunities to keep up to date with all of the latest news, discounts and competitions - and information on the upcoming cycle-camping challenge - on the Club’s social media channels: Facebook (www.facebook.com/thefriendlyclub), Twitter (www.twitter.com/campandcaravan) and YouTube (www.youtube.com/thefriendlyclub).
