The Camping and Caravanning Club has announced ‘The Paddock’ as the winner of its Certificated Site of the Year award for 2012/13.

Nominated by Club members, the campsite received the most votes and favourable comments to win this prestigious title.

The Paddock is a five- van, privately-run site located in Manton, Rutland and offers panoramic views of the Rutland Water Reservoir.

The local area hosts a range of outdoor activities to suit all holidaymakers including; water sports, cycling, walking – plus it also has a nature reserve and an outdoor adventure centre.

Site owners, father and son team, Brian and Jason Allen run the campsite and they are delighted with the highly-commended award.

Jason said: “We are very proud to win the CS of the Year - we'd advise anybody considering becoming a five-van-site to contact the Club first because they really do take you on a step-by-step guide through the whole process.

“Everyone we’ve spoken to at the Club has been wonderful and very friendly. That’s what sets it apart from its competitors; its friendly ethos really makes it special.”

And there is more good news as The Paddock also won the ‘Best New Site’ title.

Darren Whittington, the Club’s Membership Services Manager, added: “CSs are popular with Club members so it’s a fantastic achievement for Jason and Brian, particularly as there’s so much stiff competition out there.

“We know our members will continue to enjoy staying on CS’s and pitching up with the Club.”

Additional winners of the award scheme’s sub-categories include: Garlieston Lodge in Wigtownshire, the winner of the ‘Best Friendly Club Welcome’ and ‘Best Hideaway’, and The Barn in Lancing, which took the ‘Best CS for Families’ award.

Certificated Sites are smaller, privately-owned sites that are for members only. Often with minimal facilities – CSs are the perfect site option for getting away from it all.
