WARRIORS HOOPS FOR KIDS PROGRAM TO DONATE OVER $350,000 FOR UNDERSERVED YOUTH IN THE BAY AREA
Hoops for Kids Program Generates $500 For Every Three-Pointer Made; Club To Host Recipients At Monday’s Game Against Minnesota; Warriors To Hold On-Court Check Presentation During Half Time
The Warriors Community Foundation, in partnership with the Koret Foundation and Taube Family Foundation, this season launched Hoops for Kids where Warriors achievements on the court support underserved youth in the Bay Area, it was announced today. Through Hoops for Kids, every Warriors three pointer made during the 2013-14 regular season generates $500 for five organizations working locally to improve educational opportunities and life outcomes for kids. To date, the Warriors have made 721 three-pointers during the 2013-14 season (as of April 10, 2014), raising over $350,000 and counting for Hoops for Kids.
“In its inaugural year, it is outstanding to see the support we have had for the Hoops for Kids program,” said Warriors Co-Executive Chairman and CEO Joe Lacob. “We could not have done it without an early investment from the Koret Foundation and Taube Family Foundation. With their partnership we can make an impact off the court for those who need it the most.”
During pre-game of Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, from 5:30pm – 6:15pm, the Warriors Community Foundation, Koret Foundation and Taube Family Foundation will host a reception for the beneficiaries in the Warriors Lounge. In addition, the five organizations will be recognized on-court with a check presentation at halftime.
“The Koret Foundation and Taube Philanthropies have been longstanding supporters of youth organizations,” said Tad Taube, President of the Koret Foundation and Chairman of Taube Philanthropies. “We are gratified and proud that we can join with the Warriors Community Foundation to partner in a program that will enhance our mutual commitment and have an impact on underserved youth in the communities we serve.”
This year’s Hoops for Kids program supports:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland – Providing safe places to learn and grow, life-enhancing programs and hope and opportunity.
- BUILD – Using entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school and on to college success.
- East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC) – Developing social and leadership capacities in youth to excel in education, career and service to their communities.
