"Boxes from Boonton" Draws Support from Around the United States for Victims of Superstorm Sandy
Volunteers from hard-hit Morris County town organize donation drive to benefit their beloved Jersey Shore
(November 9, 2012 - Boonton, NJ) Boonton has always been the "Mayberry" of New Jersey – a small town with a family friendly atmosphere and community spirit that has inspired generations of giving. So when Sandy hit and destroyed the town's beloved Jersey shore last week, it was no surprise that the town united and created "Boxes from Boonton."
This Saturday, November 10, from 10:30 until 1 pm, the Rec Center on Cedar Street in Boonton will be turned into a collection center, where volunteers will accept, sort and repack donations to be sent to the Jersey shore hurricane victims.
But the story doesn't end there...
The Boxes from Boonton Facebook page has inspired many former Boonton residents who are now living in different states all across the US. They have been calling the Boxes from Boonton hosts asking how they can help – and next week boxes will be arriving from Georgia, Louisiana, Chicago, Indiana and Minnesota!
