ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Receives Caterpillar’s Platinum Certification
Caterpillar Recognizes ThyssenKrupp with the Highest Certification for Supplier Quality and Performance
ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Co., LLC, a leading North American manufacturer of high quality forged and machined crankshafts for heavy duty commercial trucks, automobiles and farm construction equipment, has achieved platinum level certification as part of Caterpillar Inc.’s Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP).
Caterpillar created the Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) to recognize those suppliers who demonstrate their commitment to excellence, and drive a "zero defects" culture within their organizations. Certification levels include Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, reflected in order of increasing difficulty. Suppliers are certified through SQEP by meeting or exceeding stringent supplier performance standards, such as product quality and shipping performance, which are measured over the course of a calendar year.
“ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft is honored to be so highly recognized by Caterpillar,” said Michael Boyle, Chief Executive Officer of ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Co. “We are proud of what we have been able to achieve through collaboration. ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft strives to continuously improve and be a best in class organization.”
Since 2007, ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft has been certified through Caterpillar’s SQEP nine times. In 2011, ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft was certified as a bronze supplier and last year the company achieved gold certification.
“Each year, we strive to improve our customer service and value,” continued Boyle. “Every day, teams of talented people from our forging plant to our front office work tirelessly to raise the standard on customer service.”
“We are proud to receive the prestigious Platinum Level SQEP certification for outstanding supplier quality performance from Caterpillar, a key customer,” said Torsten Gessner, President and Chief Executive Officer of ThyssenKrupp North America, Inc. “We have been honored to receive nine supplier excellence awards over the last eight years. The criteria to win are rigorous, and we believe this recognition exemplifies our commitment to being a long term partner to Caterpillar, delivering the highest standards for quality and performance.”
