The implementation of OEO enabled elevators in U.S. high-rise buildings is a critically important step toward ensuring people’s safety in the event of an emergency, and it’s only the beginning. In the near future, hopefully many of the high-rise buildings being designed in major markets will incorporate OEO functionality for their elevators.

Coda will be unlike anything in the southeastern U.S., and its Class T office space will enable collaboration in a unique and groundbreaking way. The mixed-use building will contain many firsts, and we’re thrilled to start that trend by being the first building in the U.S. to utilize the TWIN elevator technology from thyssenkrupp.
thyssenkrupp’s Research Innovation Center has been a proud member of the Tech Square community since 2013. The installation of TWIN now gives us the opportunity to be a part of both its building design infrastructure as well as its innovation ecosystem.

North America is already ThyssenKrupp’s most important sales market outside Germany, accounting for around 22 percent of our total sales. We are profiting from economic growth and the renaissance of manufacturing in the USA. That’s particularly true of our components business, which is why we have started this investment drive. We are using the opportunity to continue to grow profitably here.
What riders experience is just a small fraction of the years of planning and execution we have invested into creating and maintaining the fastest elevators in the Western Hemisphere.
Working on this iconic project and such an important part of the New York City skyline is a point of pride for the ThyssenKrupp team around the world. The elevators and escalators installed at One World Trade Center are symbolic of ThyssenKrupp’s rich heritage of engineering innovation and history of working with customers to provide customized solutions to fit any project.
Currently there are over 900,000 elevators in the US, which transport over 18 million passengers a day, understanding the material health of elevator cabs is paramount to our sustainability commitment to those who use and buy our products. Since the onset of this 7-month certification process, we have gained valuable insight enabling us to continuously optimize the components within our cabs to gain higher levels of achievement in the future.
Our order books are full so we are constantly expanding our production capacities in Mexico and the USA. In the past three fiscal years we have invested around 185 million euros here. Now we want to raise the tempo even more. To fulfil new orders we are planning further investment in North America averaging around 80 million euros a year up to 2020. Around half of this will go into expanding and building new plants in Mexico.

This facility was built in 1969, when green building practices were not on the radar. So, we are tremendously proud our team was able to attain this impressive level of certification for a facility built almost 50 years ago.
Our efforts benefit both ThyssenKrupp and the state of Tennessee because we are able to use less energy and water, reduce our emissions and create a healthier working environment for our employees.
We increased the amount of outside air to ventilate the space by ~150,000 cubic feet per minute, which translates to ~216,000,000 cubic feet per day.

Mexico is a key area for investment and opportunity for our business, especially as it relates to the country’s growing automotive manufacturing presence.
After 160 years, we are moving away from the cable-dependent elevator. Buildings can now evolve, reach new heights, shapes and purposes.
As the world’s population continues to migrate into urban areas, efficient mobility in buildings is no longer a luxury, but an absolute necessity, making MULTI one of the most significant innovations in the elevator industry.
As the nature of building construction evolves, it is also necessary to adapt elevator systems to better suit the requirements of buildings and high passenger volumes.

It is truly a testament to our convictions that we have exceeded both the timeline and the percentage of reduction so aggressively,”
