ThyssenKrupp Presta Celebrates a Decade of Growth in which it Quadruples in Facility Size

ThyssenKrupp Presta USA, LLC, a leading manufacturer of steering systems for the automotive industry, celebrates its tenth anniversary of operations in Terre Haute this month.

“We are proud of the progress and growth ThyssenKrupp Presta has made over the last ten years,” says Yashar Kazemi, ThyssenKrupp Presta President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are honored to be a part of the Terre Haute community and are excited about the possibility of further growth and opportunities as technological innovations continue in the automotive industry.”

ThyssenKrupp Presta USA manufactures between 14,000 and 16,000 steering systems per day and distributes them to automotive manufacturers such as Chrysler, BMW, Lincoln, Ford and Mercedes. Their steering systems are recognized for their benchmark technology and outstanding safety performance.

The company was established in 2003 and began production in May 2004 with a 55,000 square foot plant, a warehouse and a handful of employees. In doing so, the company established its footprint in the United States as a premier manufacturer of steering systems.

Today, ThyssenKrupp Presta USA is capable of local product development for the North American market and has expanded into a 220,000 square foot facility – four times its original size. In 2009, the company announced its first significant expansion and invested over $17.5 million to add a 70,000 square foot addition for manufacturing and additional capacity. In 2012, a $22 million expansion followed and added several new assembly lines. They now employ more than 450 people at the Terre Haute facility.

“It is an honor to be a part of a world-class team that is continually working towards our ultimate goal – of helping drivers arrive at their destinations safely,” continued Kazemi. “We remain committed to meeting this challenge more efficiently, as we focus on safety, quality, performance and technology.”

“We appreciate all of our ThyssenKrupp employees in Terre Haute for their dedication, commitment and hard work over the years,” said Torsten Gessner, North America President & CEO. “As we look back on ten years of manufacturing at ThyssenKrupp Presta, it’s clear that ‘Made in Terre Haute’ is a stamp of quality and great people.”

In celebration of the ThyssenKrupp Presta’s ten-year anniversary, the company hosted an open house for all of its employees and their family members, which included an informative site tour and steering systems exhibit.
