Tieto to take care of Service Desk for new school platform in Stockholm

Tieto has signed a new agreement with the City of Stockholm to manage the general support service for Stockholm’s new IT-based operating system for schools, Skolplattformen.

The new Service Desk agreement means that Tieto will be providing support via channels including phone, email and chat for around 300,000 users at Stockholm’s 1,400 schools and pre-schools. The agreement runs until 2018, with an option to extend for another two plus two years.

- Tieto is an experienced IT specialist and has the ability to work well together with our various suppliers. We look forward to working together with Tieto to develop a new Service Desk for Skolplattformen, says Mats Eklund, IT Manager at the City of Stockholm’s Education Department.

Tieto was successful last year in the City of Stockholm’s procurement of school IT support for the register of children and pupils in the new platform, which also includes pupil documentation and management of teaching materials and absence reporting. The Service Desk aims to contribute to a positive experience for all stakeholders within the City of Stockholm.

Skolplattformen is the City of Stockholm’s major IT initiative, replacing earlier IT systems in the field of school and education. Among other things, it aims to reduce teachers’ administrative procedures so that more time can be spent on teaching pupils. Skolplattformen, with effective IT assistance and efficient support, is an important element of Stockholm’s vision of being a world-leading knowledge region within 15 years.
