Tieto will deliver new IT solution to Skagerak Nett
TIETO CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 19 June 2014 at 13.00 EET
Skagerak Nett has chosen Tieto as their preferred partner for key IT solutions for the deployment of Advanced Measuring and Control Systems (AMS) to 180,000 households in Grenland and Vestfold in Norway. Tieto will deliver system support for contract management and work orders.
- All power companies face new requirements due to AMS and other regulatory changes. Tieto’s solution will enable us to co-ordinate contracts and work orders better and more efficiently. The objective is to have better control over work that continuously goes on in the power grid, and to manage internal resources better, says Geir Kulås, CEO of Skagerak Nett.
Contract management plays a key role in the architectural targets of Skagerak Nett, and the implementation is divided into two phases: The first phase has already started and involves internal system support for AMS deployment and operation. This phase also includes contract management of the interaction with the AMS collection solution that Skagerak will choose later this year. It also includes field support for metering orders that will be handled by Skagerak. The second phase will encompass the whole range of orders and contract management of Skagerak Nett.
Extensive experience with Nordic power companies
Skagerak has chosen a solution based on Tieto’s Workflow Management System (WMS), which is a key component in Tieto’s solution for power companies. Tieto will also deliver project implementation and support. The project started in March 2014.
Skagerak Nett is preparing for the deployment and operation of AMS across the company. The new regulations, which will be in place from 2019, require that all power companies install AMS. Tieto has broad experience and deep knowledge of AMS on a Nordic level.
- Tieto‘s solutions are well suited to meet the requirements of Nordic power companies, and this is clearly demonstrated through our recent contracts with the leading Swedish AMS-company Prometera and now also with Skagerak Nett, one of Norway’s leading power companies. Our clients face a period of numerous and complex regulatory changes. This leads to increased need for process automation and support for new workflow processes, for instance towards the Elhuben which Statnett soon will establish. We are pleased that our clients have confidence in Tieto during this period of time when market changes are happening fast, says Lars Ødegaard, Sales Manager Energy Utilities at Tieto.
