Kawneer launches one of the largest casement windows on the market
The AA®601 HDV launched by Kawneer is believed to be the largest casement window to date.
A heavy-duty window vent that is believed to be the largest on the market has been launched by leading UK architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer.
Introduced to meet specifiers’ ever-increasing demand for larger opening vents and larger areas of glazing, the new AA®601 HDV falls within Kawneer’s AA®601TE and AA®601TEPlus window ranges which feature U-values as low as 1.5 W/m²K.
The new 102mm profile is approximately 25% larger than its 82mm predecessor and enables the AA®601 systems to achieve vent sizes with friction stays of up to 2,300mm wide and 2,500mm high for top-hung applications with a maximum vent weight of 160kg and 890mm wide and 1,900mm high for side-hung applications with a maximum vent weight of 55kg.
Manufactured from 100% recycled aluminium and itself 100% recyclable, the AA®601 HDV meets the weather requirements of BS 6375 (Parts 1 and 2): 2009 and the security accreditation of BS 7950. Guidelines for the use of actuation to meet the operating forces set out in BS 6375 Part 2 are given within the Kawneer product manual.
Suitable for a wide variety of applications, both new-build and refurbishment, in residential, commercial, education, healthcare and retail/leisure, it complements the existing AA®601TE top- and side-hung casement and parallel opening windows.
Product manager Mark Austin said: “We already had one of the largest vents on offer but we had been seeing more and more demand for vents that exceed the size limits of the system. The fact that this new vent is part of the standard offer will reassure not only specifiers but installers as well.”
