Departments of the Vaeltaja, Vallila, Maku Kitchen Life and several other brands will play a particularly prominent role in Tokmanni's new megastore in Tiiriö, Hämeenlinna. Vaeltaja, which is one of Tokmanni’s private labels, offers clothes, equipment and other useful products for hiking and outdoor recreation with an excellent price-to-quality ratio. The newest Tokmanni megastore in the Tiiriö retail business area in Hämeenlinna will open to customers on Thursday 26 October 2023 at 8 am. The opening will be celebrated with comprehensive opening offers and free Tokmanni buckets full of product gifts. The product range of the store, with its huge floor area of 9,000 square metres, will be very comprehensive, even by Tokmanni standards. The megastore, which also offers a grocery store assortment, will be better in virtually every way than its around 3,600-square-metre predecessor, located a few hundred metres away, which Tokmanni closed earlier this month.

The Tokmanni store in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna, which has now taken the title of largest Tokmanni in Southern Finland from the Tokmanni store in Järvenpää, combines the variety discount retailer’s store concept, which emphasises quick and easy shopping, with an exceptionally extensive product offering and inspiring special departments that stand out from the familiar red brand image.

“It’s great to be able to celebrate the opening of our new Tokmanni store in Tiiriö, Hämeenlinna, just in time before the start of the Christmas season. Our newest megastore with its huge assortments provides us excellent potential to respond to our customers' wishes and the competition in the Hämeenlinna area,” says Timo Heimo, Vice President, Sales and Supply Chain at Tokmanni.

The assortment of the Tokmanni store in Tiiriö, Hämeenlinna includes a wide selection of, for example, ESSVE screws suitable for professional use. The photo above is from the Tokmanni store in Tornio, which was refurbished last year.

An assortment of tens of thousands of products in the leading role
– The store is also a versatile grocery store

Particularly in terms of the extensive nature of its product assortment, the newest Tokmanni store in Hämeenlinna can be compared to the Tokmanni store in Tornio, which was refurbished last year and has a floor area of around 10,000 square metres.

The assortment of the new Tiiriö store will consist of around 55,000 products related to beauty, health and wellbeing, home decoration, cleaning, clothing, leisure, home electronics and home renovation, as well as seasonal products and food products. It will be far more comprehensive than that of the Tokmanni in the Tiiriö retail business area that served customers for a long time but was closed in mid-October. In addition, the separate garden department in connection with the store sells a wide selection of yard and garden products, such as plants, flowers and seasonal tools.

Unlike its predecessor, the megastore, which is around 2.5 times larger than the previous store, also has a shop-in-shop department for the products of the Miny lifestyle brand launched last year by the Tokmanni Group and the Click Shoes chain that was acquired this year. Miny’s assortments include a wide range of beauty, wellbeing and interior decoration products and other surprising and interesting things to buy. The Click Shoes shop-in-shop department, on the other hand, has dozens of different types of footwear.

Like the megastore in Tornio, the Tokmanni store in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna will have a department for health and wellbeing products, which will also sell self-care products typically sold at pharmacies. The clothing department and departments for outdoor and fishing equipment differ markedly from almost all other Tokmanni stores in terms of furniture and interior decoration, for example.

“There are also particularly impressive displays for Vallila’s interior design and Elfa’s storage products, and Maku Kitchen Life’s and Heirol’s ranges of cooking and tableware products, for example. Our customers who are enthusiastic about renovation and DIY are likely to be interested in the ESSVE screws suitable for professional use and the Tactix hand tools, for example,” says Heimo.

Among other things, Maku Kitchen Life’s cooking and tableware products are prominently displayed in the Tokmanni store in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna. The photo above is from the Tokmanni store in Tornio, which was refurbished last year.

The Tokmanni store in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna will be one of the variety discount retailer’s 19 versatile grocery stores. Over 3,500 different food products, from fruit and vegetables to bread and fresh fish, will be on sale. The store’s varied assortments will also include stock lots of various products and food products sold under the Priima brand, one of Tokmanni’s private labels.

According to Heimo, the Tokmanni store, which is exceptionally large on the scale of Southern Finland, has been built and the opening event has been organised with the idea in mind that it is worth coming from all over Kanta-Häme – and why not further afield, to shop at this store.

“There really is a lot to choose from, whether you’re looking for products related to interior decoration, renovation of the home or cottage or even for cooking and dining, for example. We are confident, but suitably curious, about hearing our customers’ thoughts, especially about our product ranges and designated departments,” he says.

Customers can also pick up orders made through the Tokmanni online store and withdraw cash when paying at the checkout. In addition, trailers can be rented from many Tokmanni stores, including the new megastore in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna. The megastore in Hämeenlinna also has a convenient recycling point for small waste electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries for customers.

In Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna, the Tokmanni store property’s building services are remotely controlled through an automated system, so that settings affecting energy consumption can be monitored around the clock and adjusted from a control room as needed. Naturally, the store’s lighting is provided with LED technology and the refrigeration equipment in the food department is energy-efficient.

Waste is prevented by optimising product order volumes and deliveries, for example. Tokmanni stores also sell soon-to-expire food products at a 30 per cent discount, which is raised to 50 per cent starting two hours before the stores’ closing time. Tokmanni also sells food products that are past their best-before date but completely usable and fit for sale at a 70 per cent discount.

The megastore in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna will have a department for health and wellbeing products, like this one pictured in the Tokmanni store in Tornio, which differs from the standard appearance of Tokmanni stores.

Special offers, surprise buckets and extensive opening hours

In addition, Tokmanni gift cards (EUR 100) have been hidden in two of the buckets.
