The construction of the Tokmanni store in Söderkulla in Sipoo begins – The long-awaited store will make the daily life of the municipality’s residents easier

Tokmanni has reached an agreement on the construction and long-term lease of a new Tokmanni store in Söderkulla residential area in the southern centre of Sipoo municipality. The construction of the store will begin during the coming fall, and the opening ceremonies are planned to be held in spring 2024.

The new Tokmanni store will be built in a prime location along Uusi Porvoontie road in the centre of Söderkulla in Sipoo. In the vicinity of the upcoming store are located, for example, a skate park, a sports field and hall, a church, a school, a kindergarten and a bus station.

The modern store will have around 3,000 square metres of space and a garden department of around 300 square metres, and as is typical for Tokmanni, it will offer a very versatile product selection.

Tokmanni’s arrival in Sipoo has long been in the wishes of the municipality’s residents as well in the plans of the variety discount retailer. The new store will make the everyday life of many Sipoo residents easier, because nowadays the nearest Tokmanni store is located about twenty kilometres away in Porvoo, Vuosaari and Kontula in Helsinki, Porttipuisto in Vantaa, and Kerava.

SSA Rakennus Oy has been chosen as the builder of the Tokmanni store in Söderkulla.

Tokmanni’s store network is growing and renewing

In addition to the opening of the store in Söderkulla in Sipoo, Tokmanni has entered into agreements on the opening of new Tokmanni stores in the Revontuli shopping centre in the centre of Rovaniemi, Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna, Pälkäne, and Eurajoki. In addition, Tokmanni has signed a contract on a significant expansion of its store in the Ruoholahti shopping centre in Ruoholahti in Helsinki. The new stores in Rovaniemi and Hämeenlinna will replace the Tokmanni stores currently serving in the centre of Rovaniemi and in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna.

The plan is to celebrate the opening of the new Tokmanni store in Rovaniemi at the beginning of September this year, and the new store in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna in November this year. In Pälkäne, Tokmanni’s goal is to start the construction of a new store building on the plot immediately after obtaining a building permit. In Eurajoki, Tokmanni's plan is to start the construction of the new store building during current year, and to open the store in autumn 2024. In Ruoholahti in Helsinki, Tokmanni aims to carry out the expansion of the store by the end of August this year.

Tokmanni has renewed its store network also during the beginning of 2023. It celebrated its latest Tokmanni store opening in May in Konala in Helsinki. Also in May, the stores dedicated to Tokmanni’s popular Miny lifestyle brand, which was launched in 2022, were opened in the Trio shopping centre in Lahti and in the immediate vicinity of Tampere Central Square. In addition, in May, Click Shoes footwear store chain, which was acquired by Tokmanni earlier this year, celebrated a store opening at the Pasaati shopping centre in Kotka. Earlier this year, Tokmanni, for example, expanded its store in Pihtiputaa and acquired the business operations of the store that was previously known as Jyskän Varastomyymälä in Jyskä in Jyväskylä and integrated it into the Tokmanni brand.

Currently, Tokmanni has 200 Tokmanni stores, six Miny stores, 27 Click Shoes stores and two Shoe House stores around Finland.


Tokmanni aims to expand its store network in Finland to more than 220 Tokmanni stores by the end of 2025.
