Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki Anita
Paola Suhonen’s Night Flower print is featured on two garments, the Anita top and Viola tunic, in the Nordic
Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection.

The end-of-year collection created through the design collaboration between Paola Suhonen, one of Finland’s best-known fashion designers, and Tokmanni offers beautiful colours and comfort for women and pre-school children. The collection is a continuation of the collaboration that started the year before last and constantly receives a lot of positive attention.

The women’s wear collection, which is made up of 11 garments, includes the black-grey Nora dress featuring the Circus Star print, the blue Anita top and Viola tunic featuring the Night Flower print, and the red Luisa tunic and long-sleeved Mai top featuring the Firebird print. The collection also includes the black Erica trousers, the black Bambi-themed jumper and four red nightwear garments: the long Sofia nightdress and Mirjam dressing gown featuring the Kehrä print, and the Anni nightshirts featuring the Kehrä and the Copper Chain prints.

The Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection for pre-school children comprises four garments: The pink Hilla tunic and Lina leggings featuring the Rescue Dog print, and the red long-sleeved Maidi top and Siiri tunic featuring the Firebird print that can also be found in the women’s wear collection.

Suhonen is really pleased that the latest Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection also features her own favourite prints.

“My wilder side loves the pink Rescue Dogs print in the children’s collection. The Circus Star print is another one of my favourites. I was living in New York when I designed it, so there is a little nostalgia associated with it. It’s nice to see that it is available again, but in slightly different colours: the print is mixed with the base colour, so it almost look like one shade,” she says.

Circus Star was created when Suhonen lived in New York. In the Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection, the Nora dress features the print in a beautiful black-grey shade.

Suhonen explains that she gets the inspiration for her designs from everyday life, childhood memories, music, films and her own experiences, such as trips. It is possible to find Scandinavian freshness, the mystery of the East and the wistfulness characteristic of Slavic people in the prints.

“For example, the Rescue Dogs print is a touching subject for me - it sends a message and has personal significance. The dogs in the print have actually been homeless and each one has their own story,” says Suhonen.

The women’s clothing in the latest Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection will arrive at stores gradually during October and November, and the pre-school children’s clothing will arrive at the end of October. The clothes will be sold exclusively at over 80 Tokmanni stores.

The Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection has now made Finnish haute couture available for everyone
– The popular clothes are designed and fitted in Finland

The design collaboration between Tokmanni and Paola Suhonen has continued for over two years. Each year, six different Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collections are designed and launched in stores.

Tokmanni’s customers have been really excited about the collections, not least because it means Finnish haute couture is now available for the general public at very reasonable prices. The collaboration has provided Suhonen’s Ivana Helsinki and Tokmanni an excellent opportunity to broaden their clientele.

“Our collaboration with Paola has been a great success and each collection has received a lot of praise. It’s great to see that our customers are genuinely excited about the Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collection. Paola is an amazingly creative person, and our customers are delighted with her wonderful prints,” says Lilli Hietala, Design Manager for clothing at Tokmanni.

Taking customers into consideration is the most important factor when designing the Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki collections. Suhonen says she is especially pleased about the fact that the collection features several prints that have been favourites of Ivana Helsinki customers but are no longer available anywhere else.

“I believe that we have successfully introduced Ivana Helsinki’s design gems to a broad target group. The high quality of the clothing has also been retained and there has been no need to make any compromises regarding the prints, for example,” she explains.

Just like the clothing in Tokmanni’s private label brands, every garment in the Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki is designed and fitted in Finland. This ensures that they are perfect for Finnish customers.

“Tokmanni’s clothing professionals know how to design well-fitting clothes for Finns. I think that is hugely important,” says Suhonen.

“Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki combines Paola’s creativity and the skills of the fashion designers with Tokmanni’s strong commercial expertise. As a result we have collections that not only look great, they are ideal for Finnish consumers,” says Hietala.

Suhonen feels that Tokmanni is a very natural place to buy Nordic Tricot by Ivana Helsinki clothing.

“Tokmanni is a very approachable, long-standing Finnish retailer. The clothing sold by Tokmanni includes items of everyday beauty and utility articles. It’s great that customers can buy these clothes in the same way as food and household utility goods,” she explains.
