Tokmanni expands its store network to Pietarsaari

Tokmanni, Finland’s largest discount retailer chain, has signed an agreement to open a new store in Pietarsaari city, which is located in Ostrobothnia in Western Finland, on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia. In recent years, Tokmanni has received numerous customer requests for a store in the city. The new store will be located at Vaunumiehentie 12.

“The construction of the new store building will take approximately 6–7 months. The work can begin as soon as the official permissions have been approved,” says Tokmanni’s Store Network and Concept Director, Harri Koponen.

The store will offer customers in Pietarsaari area a wide and interesting assortment of beauty, health and wellbeing products, home decoration, cleaning, clothing, leisure, home maintenance and repair and seasonal products, home electronics, and non-perishable foods at low prices. The assortment of the store will include wide assortment of yard and garden products.

With a total space of approximately 3,000 square meters, the store will be designed in accordance with Tokmanni’s latest store concept, which emphasises effortless and pleasant shopping experiences. For instance, it has wide aisles and well-defined product areas. The bilingualism in the area, Finnish and Swedish, will also be taken into account in store signage, for example.   

In designing the store building, special attention has been paid to energy efficiency. The store will have energy-efficient LED lighting, and a solar power plant consisting hundreds of solar panels will be installed on the roof of the building.

During the construction period, the employment impact of the store will be approximately 30 people. In Pietarsaari, the Tokmanni store will have a personnel of approximately 20 customer service professionals.
