Dollarstore, which has been part of Tokmanni Group since August 2023, currently has 130 Dollarstore stores in Sweden and four Bigdollar stores in Denmark. The latest stores were opened in Denmark: in Hjørring in September and in Holbæk in November last yer.

The Swedish discount retailer Dollarstore, which Finnish variety discount retailer Tokmanni Group acquired in August 2023, will open a new store both in Uddevalla in Sweden and in Frederikshavn in Denmark. The Uddevalla store will be opened under the Dollarstore brand on Friday 22 March 2024, and the Frederikshavn store will be a Bigdollar store and will have its opening ceremonies on Friday 24 May 2024.

The Dollarstore store will be opened in Uddevalla at Torp retail area, and it will have around 3,300 square metres of space. In Denmark, the Bigdollar store, measuring around 3,100 square metres, will be situated along the Hjørringvej road in Frederikshavn.

Both new stores are designed by the Swedish variety discount retailer and will be offering their customers a wide range of products related to hygiene, beauty, home décor, cleaning supplies, leisure, snacks and drinks and seasonal items to name a few.

Apart from the brand names, the general appearance, brand identity as well as the product range are largely the same at Dollarstore and Bigdollar. Both store chains focus on offering an exciting, unexpected and joyful shopping experience and the store chain takes great pride in being able to exceed customer expectations in terms of product range and prices. Shopping at Dollarstore and Bigdollar stores is supposed to be a treasure hunt no matter who you are.

“We look forward to the expansion of our store network. After the store openings in Uddevalla and Frederikshavn, our customers will be served with 131 Dollarstore stores in Sweden and five Bigdollar stores in Denmark. And this is only the beginning for this year, there is more to come,” says Fredrik Holmström, Head of Expansion at Dollarstore.

“People in Sweden are already delightfully familiar with Dollarstore, its offering and ‘mighty fine prices’. In Denmark, our first four Bigdollar stores have generated a great deal of interest. By expanding our store network, we can tell even more people what Bigdollar has to offer in Denmark,” he adds.

Enthusiastic retail sector professionals and plenty of opening offers

The Dollarstore in Uddevalla and the Bigdollar store in Frederikshavn will both employ a Store Manager and around 10 to 12 retail sector professionals. In Uddevalla, the store will serve its customers on weekdays from 10 am to 8 pm, and on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm. In Frederikshavn, the Bigdollar store will be open on weekdays from 9 am to 7 pm, and on weekends from 9 am to 5 pm.

The store chains will celebrate the openings of the Uddevalla and Frederikshavn stores with plenty of special offers. The chains will reveal these opening offers closer to the opening ceremonies.

Both Dollarstore and Bigdollar stores focus on offering an exciting and unexpected and joyful shopping experience. The store chains take great pride in being able to exceed customer expectations in terms of product range and low prices.

The Swedish variety discount retailer Dollarstore is responsible for the daily operations of the Dollarstore and Bigdollar store chains. Tokmanni Group continues to grow and renew its store network also outside Sweden and Denmark. In Finland, the Tokmanni store chain has, for example, entered into agreements on opening new Tokmanni stores in Pälkäne, Eurajoki, and Söderkulla and Nikkilä in Sipoo. In Pälkäne and Söderkulla in Sipoo, the construction work of the Tokmanni stores is underway and the store openings are planned for the spring of 2024. In Eurajoki, the construction work of the Tokmanni store is scheduled to start in the spring, and the opening is planned for the autumn of 2024. In Nikkilä in Sipoo, Tokmanni has purchased land for its store from the municipality of Sipoo and has started planning the store. The variety discount retailer aims to celebrate the opening of the store in Nikkilä later this year, provided that the permits are approved early this year. The Tokmanni store chain celebrated its latest store opening in December in Katajaharju in Kouvola.

In addition, Tokmanni is currently renovating its store in the Elovainio business centre in Ylöjärvi, for instance. Last autumn, the Tokmanni Group concluded an agreement with the retailer and entrepreneurial couple Terttu and Jaakko Pirtinaho’s Mutalan Kauppa Oy to acquire the business of the Villen Kauppa grocery store, which operated in the business centre. Tokmanni acquired the business at the beginning of this year. The operations of Villen Kauppa will be merged into the Tokmanni store serving in the business centre during the first part of the year.

The Click Shoes store chain is also expanding its store network in Finland. The opening ceremonies of the next Click Shoes store will be held in the Koskikeskus shopping centre in the heart of Tampere by the end of April.
