Tokmanni has revamped its store in Vanhakylä – There is a subsidiary pharmacy in the Tokmanni premises

Tokmanni, Finland’s leading general discount retailer, has revamped its store in Vanhakylä in Loviisa in line with its newest store concept, which emphasises quick and easy shopping. The Vanhakylä store is located in the busy junction area of highways 6 and 7. The renovated store also has a subsidiary pharmacy in its premises.
With the new store concept, the Vanhakylä store has a new shelf arrangement that enables Tokmanni’s extensive product assortment to be displayed better than before. The food department, which sells both dry foodstuffs and fresh food, has more sales space than before and a wider range of products. The garden department and its product selection will be further expanded for the upcoming gardening season.
The window decals and signs, among other features, have been revamped to improve the customer experience. More attention has also been paid to recycling: the store now has a recycling point for customers’ small waste electrical and electronic equipment.
The Tokmanni store in Vanhakylä served its customers as normal during the renovation project.
Subsidiary pharmacy further enhances service offering
In conjunction with the renovation, a subsidiary pharmacy was added to the premises of Tokmanni’s store in Vanhakylä. The main pharmacy of the subsidiary pharmacy, which measures a total area of around 50 square metres, is Kruunu-Apteekki, which is located in the centre of Loviisa. Headed by pharmacist Tommi Saarelainen, the subsidiary pharmacy sells largely the same products as the main pharmacy, but its selection is smaller. The entrance to the subsidiary pharmacy is inside the Tokmanni store premises, which makes it very convenient for customers to visit during their shopping trip. The subsidiary pharmacy opened its doors on Thursday 25 February 2021.
“We want to continuously improve the way we serve our customers. The revamped Tokmanni store and the subsidiary pharmacy are an excellent addition to the range of services available in Vanhakylä. We believe that this combination will meet the needs of all parties: our customers, Tokmanni and Kruunu-Apteekki,” says Mathias Kivikoski, Sales and Marketing Director at Tokmanni.
“I believe that the Vanhakylä subsidiary pharmacy of Kruunu-Apteekki will improve the accessibility of services and thereby decrease the need for the local residents to make trips by car. We will update our product selection and stock levels in accordance with local demand. It usually takes around a year to adjust stock levels to local needs,” says Saarelainen.
The Vanhakylä store has around 20 employees. Under the supervision of Store Manager Jaana Koivunen, the Tokmanni store in Vanhakylä serves customers with long opening hours: from 8 am to 9 pm on weekdays and Saturdays and from 10 am to 8 pm on Sundays. To begin with, the subsidiary pharmacy will be open on weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm. The Tokmanni store and pharmacy are located at Heskerintie 17, 07740 Gammelby.
Ensuring safety in many ways
Tokmanni and Kruunu-Apteekki are paying special attention to ensuring a safe shopping experience. The safety of customers and employees is ensured with protective screens installed at checkouts and by offering customers hand sanitizer during their visit and reminding them to keep a safe distance with posters and announcements. In addition, it is recommended that employees and customers wear face masks. To celebrate the completion of the renovation project, the Vanhakylä store will have special offers until Sunday 28 February 2021. Because of the coronavirus situation, no opening events will be held at the store, and no surprise gift buckets will be handed out to customers.
