Tokmanni’s store in the centre of Tampere now stocks Miny products and much more – Store in Koskikeskus shopping centre has doubled in size

Shoppers in the centre of Tampere will now find even more bargains and new products to buy, as Tokmanni has remodelled and significantly enlarged its store in the Koskikeskus shopping centre. The store will also meet customer wishes with the first Miny lifestyle brand shop-in-shop in Tampere. The store expansion and remodelling will be celebrated with surprise buckets filled with product gifts handed out to the first customers on Thursday 24 November 2022. The store will also have opening offers from Thursday to Sunday, from 24 to 27 November 2022.
The Tokmanni store in the Koskikeskus shopping centre has now doubled in size, having increased from approximately 950 square metres of floor area to around 1,900 square metres.
This substantial expansion means that the store's product assortment now includes even more home, personal care, leisure and seasonal products, for example. The assortment of tools and electrical goods is also more varied than before. There are several thousand new products overall.
Headed by Store Manager Marianne Jokihaara, the store employs around ten retail sector professionals. There is also new signage and shelf layout and other things that improve customer service in line with Tokmanni's latest store concept.
“The expansion and remodelling are very welcome improvements, as they enable us to better meet our customers' wishes in terms of assortment and other needs in the Koskikeskus shopping centre in the heart of Tampere,” says Timo Heimo, Tokmanni's Vice President, Sales and Supply Chain.
The Koskikeskus shopping centre is a very familiar location for Tokmanni. The Vapaa Valinta variety discount chain, which joined Tokmanni in 2004, served its customers in the Koskikeskus building, which is known for its glass domes, from the opening of the shopping centre in 1988 until early 2012. Later in 2012, Tokmanni opened a store bearing its name in the same shopping centre.
First Miny in Tampere
A completely new feature in the Koskikeskus Tokmanni in Tampere is a Miny lifestyle brand shop-in-shop department measuring about 80 square metres. The lifestyle brand was launched by the variety discount retailer in February. Miny’s colour palette and visual identity is distinctly different from that of Tokmanni. The lifestyle brand offers an assortment of more than one thousand beauty, wellness and interior decoration products and other surprising and interesting things to buy. The assortment will also include products from the Miny ECO range that contain recycled materials and bio-based materials.
“People have been asking for Miny products to be introduced in Tampere since the lifestyle brand’s launch in February. It was only a matter of time before Miny products came to Tampere. It's really great that we found a location for Miny in the city centre,” says Heimo.
Similar shop-in-shop departments can already be found in nearly 20 Tokmanni stores. Miny products are also available in the Tokmanni online store and in a few Miny stores.

Convenient services, smart energy choices and extensive opening hours
In addition to offering a pleasant shopping experience and a comprehensive product selection, Tokmanni has invested in services that make customers’ daily life easier and in smart energy choices.
In all Tokmanni stores, purchases can also be made as a Tokmanni corporate customer and through the Tokmanni Klubi customer loyalty program. Customers can also pick up orders made through the Tokmanni online store and withdraw cash when paying at the checkout.
Tokmanni purchases only zero-emission electricity for its locations. As is typical for Tokmanni, the lighting in the Koskikeskus shopping centre store uses LED technology.
Tokmanni seeks to reduce waste by, among other things, optimising order volumes and deliveries. Tokmanni stores offer a 30 per cent discount on food products that are about to expire and a 50 per cent discount during the last two opening hours. In addition, the variety discount retailer sells fully saleable and usable products that are past their ‘best before’ date at a 70 per cent discount.
The Tokmanni store in the Koskikeskus shopping centre serves its customers with extensive opening hours from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays, from 9 am to 8 pm on Saturdays and from 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. The address of the store is Hatanpään valtatie 1, 33100 Tampere.
Opening offers and surprise buckets with product gifts
Tokmanni is celebrating its expanded and renovated store in the Koskikeskus shopping centre with opening offers from Thursday to Sunday, from 24 to 27 November 2022. In addition, 500 of Tokmanni’s famous surprise buckets filled with product gifts will be handed out for free to the first customers on the opening morning. What is more, an EUR 50 Tokmanni gift card has been hidden in two of the buckets.
Tokmanni’s chain will continue to grow and renew
Tokmanni will open both a new Miny store in the IsoKristiina shopping centre in Lappeenranta on Thursday 24 November 2022 and a new Tokmanni store in Kontula, Helsinki, during November.
Tokmanni has also entered into agreements on opening new stores in Konala in Helsinki, the Keljo district of Jyväskylä and in Söderkulla in Sipoo. The store in Konala in Helsinki will be opened next spring. The store openings in Jyväskylä and Sipoo are planned for next year. Earlier in November, Tokmanni announced that the business operations of Jyskän Varastomyymälä Oy in Jyskä, Jyväskylä, would transfer to Tokmanni as of 1 January 2023. This store will be remodelled to become a Tokmanni store during next year.
Earlier this year Tokmanni expanded and renewed its stores in Hyvinkää, Ikaalinen and Kuusamo. Extensive remodelling has also been carried out this year at the stores in Kaarina, Tervaharju in Kemi, in Tornio and Porttipuisto in Vantaa. Tokmanni also opened new stores in the Lippulaiva shopping centre in Espoonlahti in March and in Kirkonkylä in Nurmijärvi in August.
In addition to the Tokmanni stores, the variety discount retailer has opened dedicated stores of its Miny lifestyle brand in the Jyväskylä Forum shopping centre in the centre of Jyväskylä, the Lippulaiva shopping centre in Espoo and the Jumbo-Flamingo entertainment and shopping centre in Vantaa. In addition to the dedicated stores, Miny shop-in-shop departments have been opened in nearly 20 Tokmanni stores across Finland this year.
Tokmanni aims to expand its store network in Finland to more than 220 Tokmanni stores by the end of 2025.
