Tokmanni strengthens its e-commerce presence even further by launching Finnish homemade Helppo Ruoka (’Easy Food’) meals with home delivery

Tokmanni’s Helppo Ruoka (’Easy Food’) meals are made by hand in Pyhäntä, Finland. The meals can be ordered from Tokmanni’s online store and are delivered to the door. The ready-made meals only need to be heated up.

Tokmanni, Finland’s leading general discount retailer, is further expanding its product selection by introducing homemade Helppo Ruoka (’Easy Food’) meals in extremely convenient food boxes. Each food box contains meals made in Finland for the whole week. Food boxes can be easily ordered from Tokmanni’s online store, and they are delivered to the door in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Tokmanni believes that the very affordable meals meet customers’ needs for an easy everyday life by offering new options for meals enjoyed at home.

Four delicious options are available: Jokaiseen makuun (’For Every Taste’), Helppoa kotiruokaa (’Easy Homemade Food’), Kotiruokaa kevyesti (’Light Homemade Meals’) and Reilua kasvisruokaa (’Fair Vegetarian Food’). Each food box contains seven Finnish favourites – that is, a dish for every day of the week. Depending on the chosen option, the boxes include salmon soup, vegetarian lasagnette, game casserole or macaroni casserole, to name just a few examples.

The Helppo Ruoka food boxes are delightfully plentiful: each dish typically serves four adults or two adults and 3–4 children. The food boxes are also very affordable: depending on the dish, one serving costs from around EUR 1.50 to EUR 1.90. The prices of the food boxes containing seven dishes range from EUR 42 to EUR 52. Delivery to the door is EUR 8.90 per order.

According to Matti Korolainen, Commercial Director at Tokmanni, the homemade Helppo Ruoka meals are ideal for the current times: people appreciate ease and home deliveries, and are spending a great deal of time at home or the summer cottage.

“The homemade Helppo Ruoka meals are particularly well suited, for example, for families with hectic daily lives, who don’t necessarily have the time for planning and preparing well-balanced homemade meals. They also offer people working remotely an excellent opportunity to enjoy inexpensive but nutritious and delicious homemade meals. Sustainable Finnish homemade food with a long life

The tasty homemade Helppo Ruoka meals are made by hand by Feelia, a Finnish food industry company based in Pyhäntä in North Ostrobothnia.

“We want to ensure not only that the meals are delicious, but also that they are prepared sustainably. The origin of their high-quality ingredients is traceable. Most of the ingredients come from Finland, and some from local producers. The meals are made in Finland, which many of our customers appreciate,” Korolainen explains.

In addition to being prepared in Finland, the meals have a long life. The homemade Helppo Ruoka meals are made from high-quality ingredients using a special autoclave method. The food is packed in vacuum packaging and heated to a high temperature. Then it is cooled down quickly. This ensures that the packages keep unopened in the refrigerator for several months, even though they contain no preservatives.

“The special preparation method ensures a long life without preservatives, as well as brief preservability outside the cold chain. This means that customers can plan their meals for several months at a time. The long life of the food also reduces waste and brings flexibility to daily life,” says Korolainen.

Delivered conveniently to the door

Ordering Tokmanni’s homemade Helppo Ruoka meals from its online store is quick and easy. The service is currently available in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen. If customers place their orders by 2 pm on Thursday, their food will be delivered the following Monday evening. The first Helppo Ruoka orders will be delivered to customers on Monday, 7 June.
