Tokmanni to acquire business of Villen Kauppa grocery store in Ylöjärvi – On completion of the deal Tokmanni in Ylöjärvi will double in size and become a full-service grocery store

Tokmanni and Villen Kauppa have been the main operators in the Elovainio commercial centre in Ylöjärvi. At the beginning of next year the commercial centre’s Tokmanni store will become a full-service grocery store, as Tokmanni is acquiring the Villen Kauppa grocery store business and plans to combine Villen Kauppa and Tokmanni into a single store. Tokmanni has concluded an agreement with the retailer and entrepreneurial couple Terttu and Jaakko Pirtinaho’s Mutalan Kauppa Oy to acquire the business of the Villen Kauppa grocery store. Tokmanni and Villen Kauppa serve their customers in a commercial centre that was opened in 2017 in Elovainio in Ylöjärvi. The business to be acquired will transfer to Tokmanni on 1 January 2024. The commercial centre’s current Tokmanni store, measuring approximately 3,000 square metres, and equally large Villen Kauppa will be combined into a Tokmanni store measuring approximately 6,000 square metres in early 2024. Thus, the Tokmanni store in Ylöjärvi will become a full-service grocery shop.

The Villen Kauppa store is regarded as a very versatile and service-oriented grocery store in Ylöjärvi. Tokmanni aims to retain these strengths in the future. For example, the employees of Villen Kauppa will transfer to Tokmanni as "old employees".

Tokmanni has started planning the refurbishment of the Tokmanni store in Ylöjärvi. The refurbished Tokmanni, with its highly diverse assortments, will open to customers in early 2024.

Both Tokmanni and Villen Kauppa will serve their customers normally until the end of 2023. The Tokmanni store will also serve its customers during the refurbishment.

The Tokmanni Group’s network of stores will continue to grow and renew

Tokmanni has entered into agreements on opening new Tokmanni stores in Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna, in Pälkäne, in Eurajoki, in Söderkulla in Sipoo and in Katajaharju in Kouvola. The opening of the new store in Hämeenlinna, which will replace the old Tokmanni store in Tiiriö that will close this year, is planned for October this year. Construction work has started in Pälkäne, and the store opening is planned for next spring. The construction of the Tokmanni store in Eurajoki is scheduled to start next year, and the opening is planned for the autumn of 2024. The construction of the Tokmanni store in Sipoo has started and the opening is planned for the spring of 2024. The aim is to open the new store in Kouvola before the end of this year.

The Click Shoes store chain, which is part of the Tokmanni Group, is also expanding its store network. The newest Click Shoes stores will open in the Willa shopping centre in Hyvinkää city centre in September or October and in the Trio shopping centre in Lahti city centre in late October.

The Tokmanni store chain’s most recent store opening was celebrated earlier this month with the opening of a new Tokmanni store in the Revontuli shopping centre in the centre of Rovaniemi to replace the previous store. In May, Tokmanni also opened a Tokmanni store in Konala in Helsinki, a Click Shoes store in the Pasaati shopping centre in the centre of Kotka and stores dedicated to the Miny lifestyle brand launched by Tokmanni last year store in the Trio shopping centre in the centre of Lahti and in Tampere right next to the central square.

Earlier this year, Tokmanni expanded its Tokmanni stores in Pihtipudas, in Ruoholahti in Helsinki and in the centre of Kuopio, and acquired the business operations of Jyskän Varastomyymälä Oy in Jyskä in Jyväskylä, and incorporated the store into the Tokmanni chain. Last spring, the Tokmanni Group acquired all the shares in the Click Shoes and Shoe House chains. In July, the Tokmanni Group announced that it would acquire Dollarstore, one of Sweden’s leading discount retailers. The transaction was completed on 1 August 2023. Dollarstore currently has 130 Dollarstore stores in Sweden and two Big Dollar stores in Denmark.

In Finland, Tokmanni has 200 Tokmanni stores, six Miny stores, 27 Click Shoes stores and two Shoe House stores.
