Tokmanni store chain will grow strongly this year as well. New Tokmanni stores were celebrated in Pälkäne and Söderkulla in Sipoo already in April, while store openings in Eurajoki, Nikkilä in Sipoo and Sodankylä will take place at the end of this year. In addition, Tokmanni now announces that it has entered into an agreement whereby it will relocate its Tokmanni store from the Espoontori shopping centre to the nearby Entresse shopping centre in Espoo. Tokmanni also announces that it is withdrawing from the store project in Keljo district of Jyväskylä and closing its Miny store in the Lippulaiva shopping centre in Espoo. Instead of the store project in the Keljo district, Tokmanni has invested in its other Tokmanni stores in Jyväskylä.

In Espoo, Tokmanni has entered into a long-term lease agreement for a store to be opened in the Entresse shopping centre in the Espoon keskus district. Tokmanni’s goal is to celebrate the opening of the new Tokmanni store in the shopping centre in October-November this year.

The new store will replace the current Tokmanni store located in the nearby Espoontori shopping centre. The Espoontori store will be closed at the end of July due to the expiration of the lease. There will be around 2,000 square metres of space in new Entresse store, while the current Espoontori store has around 1,300 square metres of space.

“We are looking forward to the completion of the new and versatile Tokmanni store in the Entresse shopping centre. We are especially happy to be able to offer our customers in Espoon keskus a significantly wider range of products with low prices. With our new store, we can respond to the wishes of both our customers and personnel significantly better than nowadays,” says Harri Koponen, Vice President, Store Network and Concept at Tokmanni.

In addition to the relocation of the Tokmanni store in Espoon keskus in Espoo, Tokmanni has announced that new Tokmanni stores will be opened this year in Eurajoki, Nikkilä in Sipoo and Sodankylä. In Sodankylä, the new store will replace the existing one.

The openings of the latest new Tokmanni stores were celebrated in Pälkäne and Söderkulla in Sipoo at the beginning of April. In the Columbus shopping centre in Vuosaari in Helsinki, the variety discount retailer closed its Tokmanni store in mid-April due to the expiration of the lease.

In addition to the stores mentioned above, Tokmanni announced already in 2022 that it is planning a new Tokmanni store to be built in the Keljo district of Jyväskylä. After the announcement, these plans have been postponed, and now Tokmanni informs that it is withdrawing from the Keljo project completely.

“The reasons for withdrawing from the project are the changes that occurred during the planning phase of the project and increased the costs,” Koponen says.

In Jyväskylä, after the announcement of the Keljo store project, Tokmanni has, for example, acquired the business operations of Jyskän Varastomyymälä Oy in the Jyskä district. Tokmanni has also integrated the Jyskän Varastomyymälä store into the Tokmanni store chain and renewed it in line with the Tokmanni brand. In addition, earlier this year, Tokmanni expanded and renewed its Tokmanni store in Seppälänkangas district.

In Espoo, Tokmanni not only relocates its Tokmanni store to a new store premises in Espoon keskus but also closes its Miny store when the lease expires. The Miny store opened in 2022 in the Lippulaiva shopping centre in Espoonlahti district will be closed in July 2024, as the lifestyle brand is seen to have better chances of success in the Miny shop-in-shop departments in selected Tokmanni stores in the city. In Espoo, Miny already has a shop-in-shop department in Tokmanni store in Olari. There will also be a shop-in-shop department in the new Tokmanni store opening next autumn in the Entresse shopping centre. Similar Miny shop-in-shop departments can already be found in more than 40 Tokmanni stores across Finland.

Tokmanni Group is actively developing its store network in all its operating countries, i.e. in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. For example, as many as six new Tokmanni stores will be opened in Finland this year. In Pälkäne and Söderkulla in Sipoo, the store openings have already been celebrated, but elsewhere new stores are still eagerly awaited.

In addition to the Tokmanni stores, the store network of the Tokmanni Group’s Click Shoes store chain has been renewed in Finland this year as well. Brand new Click Shoes stores were first celebrated first in the Koskikeskus shopping centre in the heart of Tampere and the Karisma shopping centre in Lahti on 24 April 2024, and after them in the Veturi shopping centre in Kouvola on 29 April 2024. Click Shoes will continue to actively look for new store locations.

The Swedish discount retailer Dollarstore, which joined the Finnish variety discount retailer Tokmanni Group last year, is also developing its store network in its operating countries, i.e. in Sweden and Denmark. The latest new stores were celebrated under the Dollastore brand name, first in Uddevalla on 22 March 2024 and after that in Tornby in Linköping on 24 April 2024.
