Pride in our community college system anchors Illinois Community College Board initiative

Triton College has thrown the support of its entire campus community behind a new campaign launched by the Illinois Community College Board to celebrate the value of the state’s community colleges. Called “A Million Reasons Why”, the campaign seeks to inform residents about the strengths of Illinois’ community college system as well as the important role it will play in the future.

As one of the largest community colleges in the state, Triton College is taking on the task of “re-skilling” the workforce by helping thousands of students develop higher levels of basic and technical skills through its career and degree transfer programs.  The college’s diverse student body hails from 25 villages and towns in the near-western suburbs of Chicago and includes many individuals who are the first members of their families to go to college.

In addition to its support of the state campaign, Triton has also embarked on a major marketing initiative to increase awareness of the value the college provides to the community, including high-quality instructional programs, convenience, flexibility and affordability. This latter benefit is extremely important at a time when students in Triton’s district are facing tuition costs at other institutions of higher education that are unaffordable, even with financial aid.
