PROFESSOR of International Strategy John Anchor, the Associate Dean (International) at Huddersfield Business School at the University of Huddersfield in the UK, has been appointed to chair the International Advisory Board of the University of Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic from January 2023 to December 2025.

The International Advisory Board provides advice to the Rector of the University of Hradec Králové and the senior leadership team, in relation to the strategic direction of the University and the fulfilment of its strategic goals and incorporates a focus on the quality of the university’s programmes, particularly its doctoral studies.

It will also include an evaluation of research in the university and the optimisation of its management of research, including its deployment of post-doctoral students.  The second strand of the International Advisory Board’s work will focus on the internationalisation of the University of Hradec Králové and the development of its international cooperation, including the sharing of good practice with foreign universities. The third strand of its work will be in relation to its support for creativity and entrepreneurship both inside the university and in its region.

Five members of the International Advisory Board reflect the academic profile/Faculty structure of the university. Additional members are senior academics in Chile, Japan, Malaysia, and Spain. The Board will meet once per annum in Hradec Králové and online at other times.

Prior to the decision to establish an International Advisory Board, the University of Hradec Králové had established an International Advisory Commission for a period of two years. The experience of this project was so positive it led to the university to decide to establish an International Advisory Board by an amendment to its statutes. Professor Anchor was a member of this Commission and has now been appointed as the Chair of the new Board.

“It is a great privilege to be asked to chair the International Advisory Board of the University of Hradec Králové,“ said Professor Anchor.

“I am looking forward to working with the two new Board members as well as the two who served on the experimental Commission. The work of the Commission has led to much learning by its members as well as the University of Hradec Králové. I have no doubt that the Board will provide a similar experience“.
