ARLINGTON, Texas -- The University of Texas at Arlington is one of the best colleges for military veterans in the United States, according to rankings released today by Military Times.  UT Arlington placed No. 70 of 120 institutions named to the “Best for Vets: Colleges 2014” list that rates a school’s complete offerings for veterans at four-year universities, two-year colleges and online institutions. National award recognizes nursing professor’s work with veterans

The associate director of UT Arlington’s Center for Nursing Research has been honored nationally for her work on a study of ways to support injured veterans in the workforce. Daisha Cipher was part of a research team that recently received the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine’s Elizabeth and Sidney Licht Award for Excellence  in Scientific Writing in Rehabilitation Medicine. The paper recognized was titled, “Effectiveness of Supported Employment for Veterans With Spinal Cord Injuries: Results From a Randomized Multisite Study.”

UT Arlington wins federal funding to help veterans become nurses

The College of Nursing will use the grant to expand and adapt its popular online BSN program to educate pre-licensure nurses with military backgrounds that included medical training.Federal officials who aim to help veterans translate their military service into nursing careers have awarded a grant of almost $300,000 to the UT Arlington College of Nursing for to increase enrollment and graduation rates for veterans.
