26th September, 2018 - Oulu, Finland. A high-level government delegation consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources, Qingdao Water Authority and Jiangxi Water Investment Group visited Finland this week.

The delegation, led by Mr. LIU Zhiguang, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), P.R. China, was in Finland to discuss possibilities of technical cooperation related to the management of China’s water resources. During the visit, UROS and Jyväskylä Energy Group co-chaired a Smart Water Cycle roundtable session highlighting the role of digitalisation and IoT solutions as a game changer in the municipal water sector.

UROS Group CEO Jerry Raatikainen recounts of the visit, "We are honoured to have hosted Mr. LIU Zhiguang and his delegation, and to have gotten the opportunity to open discussions of a wider technical cooperation related to water supply management with the goal to protect water resources and build water-saving societies in China by utilising our leading IoT technology. UROS understands and supports China’s ‘Clear Water, Green Mountain’ pledge.“

As part of the official programme, the delegation was also taken to Jyväskylä Energy Group to get acquainted with the Smart Water Cycle Command Center. The visit to the local electricity, water and district heat provider’s premises served to show UROS IoT technology in action, with digital water cycle management tools in real use, benefitting the city and its people.

Jyväskylä Energy Group CEO Tuomo Kantola says, “The presentations given on Chinese water supply management were truly impressive. We share the same challenges in this industry. Jyväskylä Energy is tackling these challenges by being a forerunner on advanced digital tools and highly professional management practises on risk based asset management, to guarantee efficiency, quality and safety of the water and wastewater management. We are keen on continuing the information exchange with our Chinese colleagues.”

UROS has been invited to China for a reciprocal visit, scheduled to take place in November.
