Vår Energi teams up with NTNU
Vår Energi to challenge NTNU students with real-world problems from the daily life of an oil and gas producer.
Vår Energi will participate in the NTNU course Experts in Team (EiT) where students are challenged on current issues from society and business life. Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is one of the most influential institutions for higher education in Norway.
VP People & Leadership at Vår Energi, Astrid Huglen, emphasizes the importance of dialogue and collaboration between academia and industry:
The agreement builds on a well-established and good collaboration between NTNU and Vår Energi, and we are very pleased to take an active role in the Experts in Team course. Our daily tasks and challenges are becoming increasingly complex, and future employees must be able to collaborate across disciplines and functions to a much greater extent. Experts in Team is an exciting and highly relevant concept, and we look forward to contributing.
EiT brings together students from physics, geology, subsurface, and petroleum subjects at NTNU. In addition to problem-solving, the goal is to increase each student's collaboration skills.
Vår Energi will participate in the popular Virtual Reality (VR) village, led by Associate Professor Egil Tjåland at the Department of Geosciences at NTNU.
The VR village attracts talented students, and it is great to have Vår Energi onboard. Nothing is more inspiring than working on real-world problems and having a hotline to industry experts.
Lars-Erik Gustafsson, who works in Subsurface Excellence with digital solutions at Vår Energi, believes the collaboration between Vår Energi and NTNU is a door-opener and a win-win situation. He looks forward to supporting the students:
The collaboration gives us unique access to skilled problem solvers, while we get the opportunity to give students a reality check. I look forward to following up on great ideas and solutions, which I expect from NTNU students.
Participation in Experts in Team is mandatory and gives seven study points/credits. Each year, around 3,000 NTNU students complete the course.
