Senior Executive Vice President Tuomo Hatakka, Head of Vattenfall’s Business Area Heat and Country Manager in Germany, will retire at the end of 2020, shortly after his 64th birthday.

“Tuomo Hatakka has been a key player in the development of Vattenfall for many years and will continue to be so for the rest of this year. His work to take our Heat business to a new level has involved amongst others creating a phase out plan for coal in Berlin and continued growth in customers buying our heat solutions. I am very grateful for the dedication that Tuomo has put in to keeping Vattenfall as one of Europe’s foremost district heating operators,” says Magnus Hall, President and CEO, Vattenfall.

Tuomo Hatakka has worked in Vattenfall for 18 years in several senior management positions. He will continue until the end of the year to drive the energy transition within Vattenfall’s heat operations in order to enable fossil-free living within one generation.

The search for a successor will commence before summer.
