Vattenfall completes the sale of Polish business

Today Vattenfall legally completed its sale of Vattenfall Heat Poland S.A. (VHP), the leading heat and electricity generation company in Warsaw, to the Polish gas company PGNiG S.A.

The sales agreement with PGNiG S.A. was signed and announced on 23 August last year. The purchase price amounts to PLN 3.016 billion (approximately SEK 5.9 billion).

The sale to PGNiG S.A. covers all VHP operations including the combined heat and power plants Żerań, Siekierki and Pruszkow as well as the heat generation plants Kawęczyn and Wola, feeding heat into the local Warsaw and Pruzkow grids respectively.

The sale is another important step in implementing Vattenfall's new strategic direction, focusing on the three core markets of Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as strategic projects in certain other countries. The transaction will improve the company´s financial flexibility and contribute to meeting Vattenfall´s goal to be among the leaders in developing environmentally sustainable energy production.
