Vattenfall keeps its Danish operations
Vattenfall has decided to keep its CHP business in Denmark and not to proceed with the planned divestments.
– We are content with the divestments made during 2011 and the first quarter of 2012, which brought in SEK 37 billion, says Øystein Løseth, CEO of Vattenfall.
Vattenfall’s combined heat and power (CHP) business in Denmark includes three large CHP plants; the Nordjylland Plant in Aalborg, the Fyn Plant in Odense and the Amager Plant in Copenhagen.
Instead of divesting these plants, Vattenfall is now accelerating the evaluation of the possibility to co-fire biomass in the Danish plants in order to reduce CO2 emissions. This is fully in line with Vattenfall's strategic direction.
