New Xerox DocuMate 4700 also increases capability of existing ADF scanners.

PLEASANTON, Calif., May 20, 2013 – Scanners that use automatic document feeders (ADF) are convenient but office workers can’t use them for fragile documents or bound items such as books or passports. To help, Xerox (NYSE: XRX) today introduced the Xerox DocuMate® 4700, an A3 (11x17”) sized flatbed scanner with a built-in USB hub which allows it to be used as a stand-alone device or connected through any Xerox DocuMate sheet fed scanner. At only $795, the DocuMate 4700 is an affordable solution for large document scanning.

This design helps businesses avoid the expense of a having to buy a large format ADF/flatbed combination scanner. Other A3 flatbed scanners on the market today are sold as options that can only be connected to a sheet fed scanner and require a sheetfed scanner that must be specifically designed to work with the flatbed option.  The DocuMate 4700 breaks both of these rules, costs much less than competitors and can be shared among co-workers.

“The ability to connect multiple scanners together brings total flexibility to the complete DocuMate scanner range,” said John Capurso, president and chief operating officer at Visioneer®, a Xerox licensing partner. “If your office already has several ADF-only scanners but your needs suddenly change, you can now avoid the expense of a having to buy a large format ADF/flatbed combination scanner and just add the DocuMate 4700 to improve the investment you’ve already made.”

The DocuMate 4700 is equipped with a generous flatbed that enables you to scan large documents up to A3 (11 x 17”) size, even if the connected ADF scanner is only A4 (8 ½ x 11”, US Letter) size. It also includes:

  • Visioneer OneTouch® technology to connect the button control panel on the front of the scanner with tools to greatly improve the efficiency of your workflow. Documents can be scanned to one of nine preset (yet completely configurable) destinations with the correct settings for resolution, color, cropping and file format, all at the touch of a button.
  • Certified TWAIN™, ISIS® and WIA drivers to enable communication with hundreds of enterprise content management and document image management software solutions
  • Visioneer Acuity to provide advanced image enhancement
  • Visioneer DriverPLUS to enable sophisticated integration with your document capture and workflows
  • Nuance®PaperPort®, OmniPage®Pro and PDF Converter Pro
