Visma’s sponsored cycling team, Team Jumbo-Visma, made a remarkable start in this year’s Tour de France, with Mike Teunissen taking the first stage victory Saturday and the team winning the team time trial Sunday.

Team Jumbo-Visma rider Mike Teunissen made a surprise win and took the coveted yellow jersey when Tour de France kicked off in Belgium this Saturday. During the final two kilometres of the race, the team had to change plans quickly after Dylan Groenewegen crashed. After being brought into position by teammate Wout van Aert, Teunissen won after an exciting finish.

Teunissen retained his yellow jersey after the team won the team time trial on Sunday. After the second stage, Team Jumbo-Visma occupies the first five positions overall and is in possession of the yellow, green and white jersey.

Visma CEO Øystein Moan was at the site in Brussels to take part in the events and was impressed by the team’s dramatic opening.

“It was very dramatic and exciting to watch, said Moan. “Mike Teunissen surprised everyone at the sprint on Saturday. And the team’s true team spirit came through on Sunday when they took the victory at the time trial. It is great to come down and experience the atmosphere and see how engaging the sport is, and of course, it is extra enjoyable to see our team win two days in a row.”
