THOUGHTS FOR THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIRGINIA TECH MASSACRENew York, NY - April 12, 2012 -- April 16 marks five years since English major Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and himself at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia. And the 19thof next month marks the 85 years since America’s very first school massacre, when a disgruntled taxpayer in Michigan dynamited his local elementary school, killing 44 people.
Since that first tragedy we’ve seen that sometimes the murderer comes from outside the school community, and sometimes the murderer comes from within.
