Collage takes its place in the Makaregatorna district
At Kyrkogatan 34 in one of Gothenburg’s most vibrant districts, Makaregatorna, a new chapter is now being written as the eagerly awaited restaurant Collage will open on September 26. Over the past 200 years, the property has housed all from cigar factories to wine cellars and glass and porcelain shops. New experiences now await with a French-style brasserie, which promises dreamlike cocktails, a magical menu and a buzz into the early hours. In addition to the main restaurant, Collage’s ‘little sister’ Studion by Collage is also opening at Korsgatan 12.
“It is really great to now be able to open the doors to this fantastic building after an extensive renovation which took account of the property’s character and cultural value. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Götaplatsgruppen and Park Lane to one of the inner city’s most lively neighborhoods with a warm atmosphere, colorful personalities, entrepreneurs, designers and makers,” says Marina Fritsche, Regional Director Gothenburg and Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
“We are extremely excited ahead of the opening and we want Collage to be a meeting place for all generations and a kind of brasserie 2.0 where Manhattan meets Paris right in the center of Gothenburg. We will serve lunch, dinner and cocktails in an environment where the building’s soul remains in the walls as a collage of stories and memories,” says Bengt Linde, co-owner of Götaplatsgruppen.
The Makaregatorna district comprises four colorful blocks between the Hamngatan streets in the heart of Gothenburg, an area that offers lively main streets, charming cross streets and unexpected courtyards. The popular restaurant Hasselssons also recently opened here at Drottninggatan 26 with a wonderful menu featuring food from the sea where their Fish ‘N’ Chips speciality is the clear signature dish.
On September 28, an action-packed neighborhood day is being organized in the area involving creative activities, live music, a fashion show, history walk and competitions with fine prizes from the Makaregatorna district’s stores.
