Essity is leasing a further 2,300 sq m of warehouse space adjacent to its Mölnlycke facility, the total floor space after the expansion amounts to 15,600 sq m.

The lease is a consequence of the shift to mouth guard production where Wallenstam and Essity made a rapid conversion and adaptation of the premises in order to enable Essity’s production of face masks in Mölnlycke.

“I am proud of the effort that a number of very skilful and dedicated colleagues in the Mölnlycke plant made during the spring in order to expand production at short notice to include medical face masks, a product that was in short supply in society,” says Dragorad Vasic, Plant Manager at Essity.

Mouth guard production is now up to 1.2 million per week and the team at Essity is growing with additional machine operators. Now the premises solution will become permanent and will change from having been a loan from Wallenstam into a long-term let.

“Essity’s hygiene and health products are critical components in the fight against COVID-19 and we are working intensively to supply essential products to the general public, hospitals, elderly care and care homes. The extra floor space is necessary for us, particularly as warehouse space,” continues Dragorad Vasic, Essity.

“We are very happy that we could assist Essity with the necessary requirements to make a rapid shift in a crisis situation and loan out the premises for an important societal function. Now we are developing the collaboration further by Essity making this a more long-term part of its business and leasing new floor space for its existing facility,” says Marina Fritsche, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
