From garage to culinary Mecca - in a year’s time the doors will open to Artilleristallarna in Gothenburg
The old garage in the Artilleristallarna building on Magasinsgatan is being transformed. Here, a place for totally new food experiences is being created when the group behind the restaurants Toso, SK Mat & Människor, Mr P, Bar Himmel and at Park will open their doors in a year’s time ‒ more precisely on September 24, 2020 at 12.00
“It feels really great that we will soon be able to open the doors to Artilleristallarna. For us this is an important piece of the jigsaw. We have been looking for this for a long time to invite the public to experience this fantastic place,” says Anders Forsling, Chief Account Manager Commercial Premises in Gothenburg.
“We are incredibly proud and honored to be establishing in Artilleristallarna. Arched and large (1,200 sq m) dream premises, which we now have the opportunity to transform into a place for food experiences. It is inspiring that we and Wallenstam have such a clear shared view on this matter and want to create a really cool experience for the people of the city. Where the genuine cultural history will gain new life, accompanied by really good food. An exciting and well thought-out concept, this is always our ambition – but exactly how ‒ this is what we are now putting the finishing touches to,” says Bengt Linde at Götaplatsgruppen.
“When we asked Gothenburgers about what they wanted to see in Artilleristallarna a lot of people said food experiences and now the goal is to add something really special to Sweden’s restaurant map. It has been important for us to create something public that combines with but also complements the fine businesses that are located there today and we expect this venture to achieve this aim,” says Anders Forsling.
Artilleristallarna is a part of Gothenburg’s history with its own unique character. The block obtained its name from the artillery operations that emerged in close proximity to the fortifications on Kungshöjd, and is one of the few sites with such a high degree of preserved development. After they were constructed as the regiment’s stables and riding schools in 1835, livery stables, craft businesses, workshops and a garage have been located in Artilleristallarna. Today the yellow brick buildings form a natural gateway to Magasinsgatan’s crowds and businesses, which in a year’s time will offer a new restaurant experience for Gothenburgers and visitors to the site.
Artilleristallarna’s area of approximately 1,000 square meters will be developed from a garage into a meeting place and a new restaurant experience in Gothenburg.
